Addendum: Never mind. I know what you're talking about now. And it's not me, okay? I AM NOT A MEMBER OF WORDFORGE. I don't even know what that board IS, really. So even if you see somebody over there calling himself Babaganoosh, it is NOT me. And Capt. Adama is not me.

Re: Underappreciated Tracks on Classic Albums
Supernaut was definetely underated, as was Vol 4. Many bands derive their sound from that album. Sleep & many stoner bands. Sabbath was the world's most hated band in the 70's. Tony said; Sabbath was a dirty word in the 70's. |

Re: Underappreciated Tracks on Classic Albums
Broken is well-loved and remembered for Wish, Suck and Gave Up, not to mention the infamous Happiness in Slavery video. Last is one of the best rock(y) songs NIN have ever made and virtually everyone ignores it. Hell, it was released in 1992 and Last got played live for the first time ever in 2007! Probably have to say the same about Getting Smaller from With Teeth too...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sleep_(band) Earache released its first Black Sabbath Tribute album, and Sleep contributed a cover of "Snowblind". Saint Vitus another Sabbath-Vol 4 inspired band. soon changed their name to Saint Vitus after the song "St. Vitus' Dance" by Black Sabbath. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electric_Wizard Genre(s)Doom metal Stoner metal Cathedral yet another. Tony Iommi played on their cd Carnival Bizarre. |

I love those songs, but they always get overshadowed by "War Pigs", "Paranoid", and "Iron Man".

Re: Underappreciated Tracks on Classic Albums
Actually the hell with underrated songs. Paranoid is one of the most overrated...

Re: Underappreciated Tracks on Classic Albums
My pick for an underappreciated/overlooked song: Train in Vain on the London Calling album by The Clash. IIRC, not even listed on the album jacket, but just there at the end of one of the LP sides. More pop-oriented than the rest of the album, but a really spiffy piece of music.

Re: Underappreciated Tracks on Classic Albums
Good song. Continuing with Billy, I would put "Summer, Highland Falls" from Turnstiles and "Vienna" from The Stranger on that list. Not even close to the most well known songs on either album, yet my favorites on each respective album. |
