Spider-Man's Rogues Gallery...Best Villains?

I think Spider-Man has a rogues gallery that rivals...nay...superpasses even Batman's.

Which of his villains do you like best?

Personally, I was a big fan of Roger Stern's Hobgoblin and the Kingpin was always a great menace for the wall crawler.

Re: Spider-Man's Rogues Gallery...Best Villains?

I've always been a huge fan of Green Goblin, both Norman and Harry, because of the incredible dynamic between Peter and both of them individually and collectively (through memory). However, I'm still pissed that Norman Osborn was brought back ten years ago (good god, has it really been that long now?) and was responsible for a lot of things from behind the scenes. As if the Clone Saga wasn't enough, this was a huge insult to me and I haven't read Spider-Man since.

I've also been a big fan of The Chameleon, which is odd because I actually haven't read that many of his stories, but the basic potential of multiple identities always intrigued me.

Lastly, I thought the original Hobgoblin was a worthy adversary of Spider-Man, pulling no punches. While Jason Macendale was a lot of fun, he didn't have the menace of the original Hobgoblin.

Oh, I didn't even see the poll!

Fortunately, you included "Other" so Kraven can at least be covered there.

Venom, Carnage, Kingpin, all of the Goblins (Green I, Green II, Hobo).

Heh, there you go. New Goblin. Hobogoblin.

Re: Spider-Man's Rogues Gallery...Best Villains?

Except for the Hobgoblin, all of my favorite Spidey villains came from the first hundred issues or so of ASM. And Hobgoblin is just the GG (who is always my favorite) legacy rearing its head again. Can't get into Carnage or Venom or anything to recent. Morlun kind of bored me. Sorry JMS.
