Rod Stewart--I hate his work more than anyone else's in music history

The Rolling Stones--Just so I wouldn't have to hear all the praise for this overrated band

Jethro Tull--Do I really need to explain

Generic Boy Band (aren't they all the same?)

The Greatful Dead--I can't stand bands that can't sing or play on key. I guess you have to be a stoner to enjoy them.

3) Carlos Santana.

I have quite a few older friends (50+) who absolutely love this guy, but I can't stand him. I can't stand his songs and I don't find him to be that great a guitar player.

Oh God yes. My dad has one of this clown's DVDs, and insists on playing it non-stop. It's the most mournful goddamn racket I've heard in ten years of suffering.

While I don't like him either, it's hard to deny his chops.

I might ask, what do you think makes a good guitar player?

The entire deathmetal genre-incoherent, repetitious screaming is not music no matter how many electric basses you add or how fast you play them
Actually, death metal is characterized by incoherent, repetitious grunting. Get it straight, would you?

Beastie Boys, that's a good one! I would definitely get rid of those guys!

Roy Clark (whom I believe was selected by a guitar magazine as the best *ever*); Eddie Van Halen, and Ted Nugent.

I can't believe some of these lists. While I love them, I can understand not liking the Grateful Dead, but The Who? The Clash? What do you have against rock 'n' roll?

I'll give you six and break it down by decade:

1950s - Pat Boone (OK, not a band but an artist and everything that was wrong with the white-bread-itization of rock 'n' roll in the 1950s)
1960s - The Osmonds
1970s - Tony Orlando & Dawn
1980s - Air Supply
1990s - 'N Sync
2000s - The Flaming Lips

I had an entire post typed out explaining the nuances behind why your list is worse than a six pack of Cave Creek Chili Beer, chased with 40's of warm Olde English 800, but I'll forgo the novella for this singular demonstration of the depths to which your post falls:

The fact that you (a self-proclaimed libertarian) would even jokingly decry the band that sang Won't Get Fooled Again, container of such wonderful lines as: "Meet the new boss, same as the old boss", is an irony worthy of Oedipus himself.

I'm not a libertarian, and I'm lucky that I even found this post thanks to the goddamn TNZ thread that has my name in nearly every post.

It is just as bad for a conservative, the group that is traditionally against/distrustful of government.

And you sure support Ron Paul and the Cato Institute pretty well for a non-libertarian.
