I would hate to be so serious that I cannot have fun as a Star Trek fan.
That is why... SOMBREROS RULE!!!

There is a way forward, brethren and sistren. A way to hold The Sombrero close to our gnarled and twisted hearts that doesn't cause the bile to rise in the throats of the naysayers.

A way that enables me to shoehorn a picture what I did into this thread. A picture that got one fucking response in the thread it was originally posted in. I mean, honestly.

Absorb The Sombrero into your soul. Become one with it's twisted majesty. Let it become...

Bwahahaha!!

**This post was brought to you by the concepts of "It wasn't funny the first time you posted it, dude - and there's no fucking way I'm gonna reply to this one, either" and "I'm not being entirely serious, I just felt like posting some idiotic crap as is my wont. NURSE! Where's my bedpan?"**

I'm still hearing Vincent Price saying it,

...repeating it over and over...

...with a nice, spooky reverb on it, you know? And just a hint of mad-scientist-y organ playing in the background.

Yeah, I thought it was a nice job.

Where did you get the screamy bit in the lower left? It's weird, but I had to look at that a couple of times before an important feature became clear.

I just did a Google image-search for "scream" and picked one I liked! Not sure where it's originally from.

Hey, I missed this! I like it. Vincent is so suavely creepy...a perfect host to haunt us with soul-torturing festive headgear.

I just tried that, and didn't find the one you used, but did find one quite similar. I love Google.

That's a great pic!

I found the one I used - it was a few pages into the search.

Odd, I still can't find it, and that link keeps timing out. Probably just a settings issue. Trying another tack, I discovered that Google.co.uk returns a slightly different result set than Google.com does, so I've learned something new today.

You don't think having every other post in the entire Star Trek XI being about ****** sombreros for the past month or two is more than just 'a little annoying'? Not to mention prolonging and forcing something that was never even funny on every member of TrekBBS

Here's the deal, the sombrero fad is dying. It is going away. But every time people start complaining about it, it makes a come back. It's pretty much restricted to this thread, the blue warp nacelle thread, the change our avs back, and the other one comparing it to the Not Dead meme from a couple years ago. That's it. Sure there may be a few one off quips here and there but it's easy to ignore / dodge them and post about whatever it is the topic is supposed to be about. The only way to move on from the fad is to just post normally.
Don't worry, I'm working on the next idiotic fad.

Re: Sombrero

I wish I had...ANY photoshop skills...I'd maybe try to do up
something from 2010, but instead of being filled with
endlessly multiplying monoliths, Jupiter would be filled with endlessly multiplying sombreros...

Or maybe that's too complicated...and would be better as a movie...

Maybe just that guy from the BSG "Lest We Forget" photo, but clutching a sombrero...
