Adam Nimoy - Like Father, Like Son?

Being the son of a famous actor didn't make life any easier for Adam Nimoy.

As reported by L.A. Times, Adam Nimoy wanted to write a book about his struggles; ranging from alcohol and pot addiction to divorce, but what did an agent want? "Dirt" on growing up with Spock.

But part of the son's life was how his father's work affected his family, writes Adam Nimoy in My Incredibly Wonderful, Miserable Life. "Since the beginning, people have been coming up to Dad from every direction wanting something. Naturally, Dad had to be very guarded when dealing with these types of situations and often times he forgot to let his guard down when relating to me."

Like his father, Nimoy has struggled with alcoholism. After being married for eighteen years, he divorced. Nimoy writes about the failure of the marriage and the pain it brought which ranged from hostility from his daughter, to missing living with his two children and being part of their everyday lives.

Nimoy has finally forgiven his father and stopped resenting him for past behaviors. "I've never had much luck arguing with him," said Nimoy. "Have you ever argued with a pop culture icon? Have you ever argued with a guy who can cause a frenzy among thousands at a convention hall simply by performing a Vulcan hand salute?"

And of his own skills at being a father? Nimoy suspects that his son Jonah complains about him in therapy. "What's up with that?" he asks.

What's next in the revelations department? Nichelle Nichols is a lesbian? William Shatner did coke back in the '80's? Melanie Shatner married at the age of 16 after getting pregnant? Julie Nimoy became a prostitute who worked for Heidi Fleiss? Walter Koneig loves having sex with minors? What more skeletons do the TOS stars have hiding in their closets? And is the Next Generation closing in on them?

Sorry for the icons, but these revelations are both shocking, surprising, and hilarious at the same time. It's a good thing these guys aren't really big stars; Star Trek wouldn't survive!

And yet, here's Adam Nimoy blabbing to the LA Times.
As good old Frank Rizzo used to say, "If you don't say it, they can't quote you.".

At this point, a certain song comes to mind:

Skeletons-Stevie Wonder

Skeletons in your closet-
Itchin' to come outside!
Messin' with your conscience-
In a way your face can't hide!

Oh, things are gettin' real funky
Down at the old corral
And it's not the skunks that are stinkin'-
It's the stinkin' lies you tell!

What did your mama tell you about lies?
She said it wasn't polite to tell a white one.
What did your daddy tell you about lies?
He said one white lie turns into a black one...

So, it's gettin' ready to blow,
It's gettin' ready to show-
Somebody shot off at the mouth and
We're getting ready to know!

It's gettin' ready to drop,
It's gettin' ready to shock-
Somebody done turned up the heater
An' a it's gettin' ready to pop!

Crevices in your pantry,
Now what do we have in here?
Havin' a day time nightmare-
Has always been your biggest fear!

Oh things are gettin' real crucial
Up the old wazoo-
Yet you cry, why am I the victim?
When the culprit's y-o-u!

What did your mama tell you about lies?
She said it wasn't polite to tell a white one..
What did your daddy tell you about lies?
He said one white lie turns into a black one...

So, it's gettin' ready to blow,
It's gettin' ready to show-
Somebody shot off at the mouth and
We're gettin' ready to know!

It's gettin' ready to drop,
It's gettin' ready to shock,
Somebody done turned up the heater-
An' a it's gettin' ready to pop!

It's gettin' ready to seep,
You're gettin' ready to freak,
Somebody done picked up the talk box-
And gettin' ready to speak!

It's gettin' ready to jive,
It's gettin' ready to gel,
Somebody done gone let the lid off-
And it's gettin' ready to smell!

They're gettin' ready to deal,
You're gettin' ready to ill,
Somebody done just dropped the big dime-
And they're gettin' ready to squeal!

It's gettin' ready to turn,
We're gettin' ready to learn,
Somebody done fired up the brimstone-
And you're gettin' ready to burn!

It's gettin' ready to shake,
You're gettin' ready to ache,
Somebody done snitched to the news crew-
And it's gettin' ready to break!

You're gettin' ready to lie,
They're gettin' ready to spy,
Somebody's been put on the hot seat-
And you're getting ready to fry!

Unfortunately, since his dad's admitted that he's Spock, he's still Spock's son. So there, Adam!
