Dunno. Make some more female F1 drivers and then we can find out.

I've never heard of him and I don't think his views are worth my time

Well F1 has had a few female drivers over the decades, sooner or later we'll see one lining up on the grid. And good luck to them.

You could almost raise a concern about the strength issue, even if that's a flimsy argument... but this fellow has it backwards. Hopefully he'll get a well deserved lawsuit from the next rejected female applicant.

He's either senile or been drinking brake fluid...

Also, last month he was very vocal about not wanting to be played "by a poofter or anything like that, he'd have to be masculine" in any biopic of him...

ETA- ah, somebody already mentioned that.

Why? Does the race not end until you parallel-park your racecar?

Williams has a Scottie lass as their test driver just now. I don't think she's good enough to make the first team but that's quite an achievement at that level of competition.

That would be Scottish lass, Susie Wolff though it might help that her husband is Toto Wolff is executive director of the Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 team.

Moss should have a talk with Michele Mouton, who came second in the 1982 world rally championship and won loads of races. i doubt she'd stand for someone calling her lacking mental skill.

Never heard of Stirling Moss, one of the most famous drivers in the history of auto racing?

But then, I wouldn't be able to name ten current American baseball players.

The skill is a load of nonsense and I have no doubt women would be mentally able to drive in F1

But I have heard that the physical requirements of F1 mean you need to be in comparable shape to an elite triathlete.

If there is a difference made by physical strength then women will never be a part of F1 at the top end, you can't beat genetics and women are not built with the same phsical strength as men.

That's not being out of date, it's biology 101

What would they sue him for, being a stupid old bugger?

He has no say over who does or does not become an F1 driver.

    Possibly both.

That attitude is rightly a thing of the past - if a woman is physically tough enough to compete there is no reason why she shouldn't. However, studies of the brain have shown that there are differences between the sexes, so there MIGHT be something in what he says, although I doubt it. The car is more important than the driver anyway - Schumachers return proved that.

More to the point - why would a woman want to drive around in circles for hours ? I can't understand why the men do it. Pointless 'sport'.

Hey Hollywood, cast Chris Colfer as young Stirling, Rupert Everett as adult Stirling and Ian McKellen as old Stirling.

But make it quick, I want the movie released before the guy dies ... whoever he is. Am I supposed to know who Stirling Moss is?

he's a racing driver from the 50's generally regarded as the best to never win a f1 championship. so if you aren't a motorsport fan you probably wouldn't know of him

and not rupert everett, he's a self-loathing attention whore
