Favorite bridge: 1. Enterprise E (with some post-Nemesis alterations) 2. Enterprise TOS Favorite corridors: Enterprise-E for curved corridors. Voyager-style for straight corridors. Favorite engine room: 1. Enterprise-E (upgrade the neon with LED arrays) 2. Voyager Favorite sickbay: 1. Enterprise-E/Voyager (same set) Expand it to the TOS floorplan 2. TOS Enterprise Favorite ready room: 1. Voyager (due to size, needs a makeover) 2. Enterprise E Favorite conference room: 1. The Enterprise-E's from Star Trek X 2. Enterprise D (again, same set, but redone for the E) Favorite living quarters: 1. Enterprise E (a Voyager makeover) 2. Enterprise D Favorite Captain's chair: 1. TOS Enterprise (it's the first) 2. Enterprise E (without seat belts) I'd like to see the Enterprise-E bridge upgraded to today's tech with touchscreen LED panels that work. And the CON and OPS stations joined together into one unit like the TOS one. Put the Captain's ready room on the port side (where it should be). And put a standby bridge officers room with a proper stairway going down on the starboard side.
Overall, I prefer all TOS, however, honorable mentions go to: TWOK bridge and chairs. TNG Engineering and interiors. Enterprise: the series had some nice sets also.
Just have to add... I can't stand the JJ verse Enterprise and sets. On the big E the nacelles are too close together and it looks constipated from the front view (side view is ok). The bridge and interiors look like an Apple store threw up and whoever had the brilliant idea of using a brewery as engineering ought to be kicked to the curb.
I hear that one a lot but I don't get it: how do you compare the new Enterprise interiors to the Apple store ? Did people come to that conclusion independently or did they read that off the internet and found it clever ? Because I don't see it.
Enterprise - D all the way around for me. I especially love the crew quarters that have those couches against the window with the ambient lighting. I would love to fall asleep on that thing every night.
My favorite bridge is definitely the Defiant's. I especially like the captain's chair with the side-mounted computer panels. For interiors in general, I'd go with the NX-01. I love the "submarine in space" feel to that ship.
Can we talk least favourite bridges for a second? The USS Sutherland from TNG gets my vote, as it looks like the command station of a fairly tiny vessel, not a supposedly fairly large Nebula class ship. And WTF is it with the helm and ops stations facing the captain's chair? Weird...
Favorite bridge: Tie between the Generations Ent-D bridge and the NX-01 bridge Favorite corridors: Tie between the NX-01 and Abramsprise Favorite engine room: STiD Abramsprise Favorite sickbay: NX-01 Favorite ready room: DS9 Favorite conference room: Ent-E Favorite living quarters: Ent-E
IMO, it's taking into account that the helm and ops stations don't have to face the main viewscreen, especially if they have monitors and other readouts embedded in their consoles telling them everything they need to know.
My favourite sets are those from the Next Generation/ Enterprise D. TNG was my first Trek, and they're the first sets I think of, when I think Star Trek. Yes, the bridge looked more comfortable than practical, but ST is not a documentary about realistic space travel. I'll tell you what was my least favourite engine room set: the brewery from ST 09 and Into Darkness! (I like the films, just not the brewery)
Favorite interior sets: NX-01 Favorite bridge: NCC-1701-A (ST 5 version), USS Relativity (VOY), USS Dauntless (fake), USS Vengeance (STID) Favorite engineering: NCC-1701 (ST:TMP version), NX-01 And allow me to add my own - Favorite transporter effect: Klingon, as shown in TNG's "The Mind's Eye"
Of the series, all of which have their stand-out visual look one way or another, the sets that tand out to me as looking the most like they might be a functional starship are those of the NX-01 enterprise from Star Trek: Enterprise. They're a little claustrophobic and there are concessions to functionality all over the place, befitting an operation piece of machinery, and the reletively early setting of the show. there are hand-holds, and places where you've got to duck you're head (even in the CO's ready rooom). The sets for the movie Enterprise as they appeared in Star Trek: The Motion Picture are a close second. Though, they appear more "movie set" in each following film.
I don't know why I like the Relativity bridge so much, it's just so damn weird. Gotta love 29th century design aesthetics.
Off topic but i didn't know how to send an email directly: Nightwind has the coolest avatar EVER! How can I get one too?
Favorite bridge: Enterprise-E or NX-01 Favorite corridors: NX-01, they look like a starship interior Favorite engine room: Either Sovereign class or NX-01 Favorite sickbay: DS9, it actually has a seperate surgical area Favorite ready room: Either E-E or Sisko's office Favorite conference room: E-E from Nemesis Favorite living quarters: Probably DS9 senior officers quarters. They look the roomiest.
