Hi all. I recently finished reading the Signature Edition of these two books under the collective title of 'Worlds in Collision'. Memory Prime - Thought this was a good book but really did come across as a first book by the authors. It had some interesting concepts such as sentient computer programmes and the authors really nailed the characters voices. The plot was ok but I wasn'y blown away by it. Prime Directive - This book blew me away. It was a real page-turner. It had a great opening and the book kept getting better and better. It had my favourite type of story, a 'murder-mystery' with a few twists that I didn't see coming. Again the authors completely got the characters and most of them had a good bit to do in the story, though Uhura did seem to get left behind a bit. It was also good to see for once an admiral who wasn't there solely to do or say the opposite of Kirk. This was a superb book and would actually have made a very good final film for the TOS crew.
