At one time in the comics Bane was an agent of Ras Al Ghul. If that holds true in the new film, it could link back to the League of Shadows in Batman Begins. That said, Bane wouldn't have to go through any great lengths to discover Batman's identity. He should already know.

We've mentioned the connection to Ra's several times now in the thread. It was during the Legacy storyline. Bane works with Ra's to launch a plague attack against Gotham City (again this is where Talia could emerge) this of course gets the attention of Batman where the two of them confront each other and have their rematch. The rematch occurs in Detective Comics #701 and Bruce defeats him, Bane no longer addicted to Venom. Ra's al Ghul rejects Bane as his heir and Talia is pleased that her true beloved has redeemed himself and defeated his greatest challenge...she declares to Bane that she never loved him and never would. It is one of the first times that her devotion to Bruce is cemented. Bruce and Batman even come to an understanding with each other at one point when Bane thinks that Thomas Wayne is his father, when that is disproved...Bane leaves Gotham in peace with Batman's blessing. Bane discovers later on after No Man's Land that his real father is none other than crime lord King Snake. I'm not sure if this has been retconned or not. He's currently a member of the Secret Six.

I was hoping for Rachel Weisz as Catwoman and Bendicio Del Toro or Javier Bardem as Bane, though I was most hoping for the Riddler.

Bane and Catwoman are an interesting combination, and it would have been a bad idea to have Talia without Ra's (but too soon to bring back Ra's). Hathaway could be interesting and nicely different from Pfeiffer (who was great, but there should be a different approach); can't really see Hardy as Bane.

I disagree that it would have been bad to have Talia without Ra's. I could see Talia continuing her father's work and having taking leadership of the League of Assassins to exact revenge upon Bruce Wayne. I still don't think casting is done or that Bane is going to be the main villain.

I think if that happens it would be fantastic. Williams has more than proven he can be exceptional in dramatic roles and Hugo Strange would be right up his alley. I want to see this happen now.

AND, he has worked with Nolan before...

    It'd be cool.

The rumor sounds iffy at best, but it'd be awesome if true.

Cool. So it's still a possibility that Prey could provide some of the framework for TDKR. Williams can do creepy weirdo roles well, though I admit he's not the first one I'd imagine playing Strange.

This could work. Strange and Bane both want the same thing, and neither of them are strong enough to be the main villain for 2 hours and 15 minutes, so they could split the load. If this is true, I'm guessing Strange would also have a bigger role than Bane.

The combination of Williams being a big Batman fan and having worked with Nolan before (with one of the best performances of his career), I'm praying this is true. I've always loved Williams' work, both comedic and dramatic.
