Heh. Those Greys are truly devious, ain't they... ;)

teacock, let me just say that your choice of hetcrush is impeccable. Not that I'd Go Grey for him or anything not that there's anything wrong with that but Rodney McKay is the Proverbial Shizznit and my favourite SG character ever. (Well... a tie with Sam Carter, maybe. But he's definitely up there.) :)

Maybe he wanted the entire crew to have baskets on their heads like Yeoman Janice Rand?

Thank you BigJake, and may I just say that any Rodney appreciation is appreciated. And now I can genuinely share my favorite pic of Rodney (I have hundreds in my Rodney folder) and AMAZINGLY it will be on topic. Unlike the other bajillions of times I've shared it.

Huh. Maybe I would Go Grey for him after all. Let's just keep that between us, though, 'kay? ;)

    How about...

Once you go Gray he has to Obey. Does this pique the interest?

To be slightly serious about this for a moment, compared to the full-haired folks shown, it's a very small percentage of us people of scalp who have really been shown. And as Patrick Stewart once mentioned about there still being baldness in the future, "by the twenty fourth century, no one will care."

I do remember all the buzz (no pun intended) when TMP came out about Ilia. Months before I even saw the movie, I remember people talking about the new alien who was a bald woman. That was a lot of word of mouth publicity. Also, probably wasn't too expensive an alien to create. Not that they seemed to be watching the budget too much on that movie. But just shaving her head instead of expensive prosthetics may have saved enough money to give us ten more minutes of the Enterprise flying into Vger.

And don't forget, Walter Keonig is also a baldie, although I'm not exactly sure when that happened.

I always figured Shatner's chest was to emphasize his pecs more, same reason bodybuilders do it. If the chest is too fuzzy, it sort of blurs everything and makes the muscles look less defined.

As for Sisko, I figured it was because Avery Brooks is much better looking with the bald head. He has the head/face for it.

From what we know about Roddenberry, that's probably how she got the role.

The way I understand it, in the mid sixties Shatner wasn't actually bald, but he did have very fine hair and the hair stylists just could do anything with it, it would just laid there. That why he wore a rug, not just on Star Trek, but on other acting jobs too.

People of scalp.. :guffaw: I like it! :techman:

Far as I'm concerned, there ain't enough baldies in Trek. I've been a PERSON OF SCALP :D for years now. Difference there is, though, I did it on purpose. (Every morning.)

I've never seen any sketches, so maybe it never went any further than Roddenberry floating the idea. The actors objected because they would have had to wear weird haircuts in their everyday life. Spock's haircut probably gives us a clue of what he had in mind; Leonard was wearing it in game show appearances at the time, though not as heavily lacquered.

And thus the Vulcan and Romulan devotion to the bowl cut was born..

You know what is alien. Having an entire species sport the exact same haircut.

Who, me? Personally I hate baldies and I think they all are abominations that should be killed with fire. But this isn't personal, is it?

Now Roddenberry must've DESPISED hair. More examples: Evil Spock had facial hair, Good Spock didn't. Then there's the Klingons, the Mugato, all hirsute.
