A Constantine Series Is in Development

Stick a cigarette in his mouth, and that's John Constantine. Gives me some hope. DC is really doing great in the Live Action TV show area right now.

 

My first instinct is that he is a little young and pretty, but whatever. It isn't illegal to conspire to give an actor a drug and/or alcohol problem in order to subject them to premature aging is it?

 

That looks pretty close to the age of the New52 Constantine.

 

Sure, and this is probably about as good as we could hope for, but there is something kind of innocent and pure and sheltered in his eyes(in other roles I've seen him in, whereas those pictures all seem to have his eyes in shadow). In any case, I'll hope for the best.

 

I'd definitely watch it.

 

As mentioned up thread, Constantine's lookwas based on Sting, who wasn't exactly old and ugly back in the mid-80s when JC was created.

 

This guy had better smoke or else it's not really the same character.

 

Not Gonna Happen. They'll probably mention that he is recovering and on nicotine patches or something like that... yeah, I know.

 

Can we at least get the bisexuality, if we can't get the cigarettes?

 

It's network TV. I would expect some restrictions but IIRC, Goyer has said that they're trying to get the smoking in.

Seriously though, I have heard this before but don't remember ever seeing it in the comics.

As for the smoking, it would be fine if he were trying to quit or something but I wouldn't consider this to be a deal breaker, especially if they get the personality down.

Found an interesting thread on the bisexuality here: http://www.bleedingcool.com/forums/...john-constantine-bisexual-thread-strewth.html. While there's a couple of hints it's not like it's an aspect that doesn't seem to have been explored in any depth. DC answers the question rather diplomatically(evasively?), I'm not sure they are happy with articles with titles like "NBC greenlights TV show for bisexual DC comic character".

 

NBC has ordered the show to series.
