Re: I.S.S. Titan & I.S.S. Ares True True. Here is another Vector Commission that I did tonight for Glenn Judd. This time for a Rear Admiral Uniform ($40.00) from the Dark Mirror Universe. Sean P. Tourangeau 5-30-2011 Adobe Illustrator CS5
Re: I.S.S. Titan & I.S.S. Ares Funny - When I first read the name, I thought it would have been a Mirror-Universe version of Jamie Finney, whom Kirk adopted after he assassinated his arch rival, Ben Finney, in a mysterious ion pod accident on the ISS Enterprise. She was then required to take Kirk's name. Then I more carefully read your description! Scary thing, is, I actually do see some young Shatner in the face you made for her. Very well done as usual!
Re: I.S.S. Titan & I.S.S. Ares Thanks, actually I like your idea as well. The eyes are actually traced from a head shot of Shatners' from the 60's
Re: I.S.S. Titan & I.S.S. Ares Here is a second batch of concept sketches for possible shuttle for the U.S.S Titan that might be included in a 1:2500 kit that is in development. I still need to flesh out the Captains Yacht and Shuttle Bay, but this is a start. Sean P. Tourangeau 5-31-2011
Re: I.S.S. Titan & I.S.S. Ares Me too. I cannot help but think that maybe you should perhaps try doing a version of the shuttlecraft on the left with side integrated nacelles like the one on the right, so that it looks less like the type-9. I'm thinking that thus far, the speedboat-like nose is the best of the directions you've headed in.
Re: I.S.S. Titan & I.S.S. Ares Here is a $50.00 Custom Starship Commission created for Craig Verba. He wanted a Federation version of one of my designs he saw in one of my Imperial Fleet Images. I wanted it named the U.S.S. Sabre and in a desktop wallpaper format. Sean P. Tourangeau 6-1-2011 Adobe Illustrator CS5
Re: I.S.S. Titan & I.S.S. Ares I like some of the ideas you have with the shuttles like the off-center deflector (its quirky, I like it), but I think you might want to try a sketch that injects more of the shuttle's mothership into it - add some more Titan-ness to the nacelles, body, etc. Just my two cents.
Re: I.S.S. Titan & I.S.S. Ares I like the secopnd shuttle down on the right. It has a shark look to it (especially the grill). One thing you may need to look at is access through the entry hatch. Perhaps a stair step on the hull that covers the nacelle that engages when the door opens. YMMV
Re: I.S.S. Titan & I.S.S. Ares Here is the process I go through most of the time while creating custom character commissions. Stage 1. Pick out a character template from my created Blanks. Print it out to be used as a under drawing. Stage 2. With the template as an under drawing I sketch up on a light box what I want the character to look like. I usually use a non repro blue pencil at this stage. Stage 3. Place the Line drawing back on light box and ink the character Most of the time I leave the face blank as I did with this one so I can create the face later in Illustrator. Stage 4. Scan the Black and White image into the computer and clean up the lines in photos. Then I copy the image into Illustrator and use the Live Trace Function to get my Vectors created. Stage 5. I start to import the extras that will be in the image like the phaser, Terran Empire Graphics and Grid. Stage 6. I color the image in Illustrator. Stage 7. With this character I look for a image of William Shatner from the 60's where I traced his Eyes. with the lips I tried to match the off center appearance that the reference photo had. Stage 8. Send to client for approval. That is pretty much what I do. Sean P. Tourangeau 6-2-2011
Re: I.S.S. Titan & I.S.S. Ares Very cool progression there *adds you to the going to commish a art from someday list*
Re: I.S.S. Titan & I.S.S. Ares Thanks, that seems to be the one that everyone like on the forums. I will have to explore that one some more.
