The phrase is "dirty old man".

I've always wondered if Marina Sirtis's odd voice for the first couple of seasons was because she had her mouth full when she got the part, and felt she had to keep talking like that!

Thank you very much for that mental image.

    :barf:

ETA: Ugh. I think that emoticon just made it worse.

My biggest problem with the episode is that the Enterprise made contact with the Edo in the first place, they seemed to be not only pre warp but pre space flight. In "Coming of Age" they mentioned that Picard violated the prime directive by interfering in the Edo's laws but didn't he violate the prime directive by just making contact with them?

I assume the Edo were already "contaminated", as in, they were already aware of the warp-capable galactic society beyond their planet. Perhaps their god had something to do with that.

It did seem that way. Travelers from beyond their world did not seem like a new idea to them

I picture Tasha getting a list of rules: no murder, no rape, no trampling newly-planted flowers, etc., and passing it on to everyone going on shore leave. There were no punishments listed (because everything's punished the same way), but Tasha incorrectly took for granted that the punishments would be proportional: murder, rape, etc. would be punished severely, while trampling flowers would be punished lightly.

This is the REAL problem with "Justice":

"Sure we can run. Right, Commander!?!?!"

That sounds like a line from a Saturday morning animated TNG.

"We sure can!" (off they go in not a run but a brisk jog.)

The funniest thing is that as a teenager Wesley was not trying to get his leg over the whole time, mind you he was showing off.

it still just doesn't work as an explanation. If you're investigating the laws of a society, punishment is a major part of that, and if she's researching it, and coming up with no results, she should be getting more suspicious, not jumping to conclusions based on nothing.
