I haven't read Uncanny but yes, the Dr. is getting around.

It'll have six films unless they increase to more than two films in any given year. Ant-Man and The Avengers 3 will presumably open and close the phase. Thor 3, Captain America 3, and Guardians of the Galaxy 2 (if the box office is strong enough for the first film) may well fill three slots. That would leave one slot, with Dr. Strange the strongest contender to fill it.

I think Dr.Strange is among a few characters that could be deemed "strongest contenders" but I think he wins out on the types of various avenues a Strange film could go down.
The MCU doesn't have a mystic/magician/mage that can have stories based in horror, cosmic, magical and super heroes. The versatility is there.

Where the other strong contenders, Black Panther, Inhumans or Ms.Marvel don't offer as many variables.

Downey only signed for Avengers 2 and Avengers 3; no more Iron Man movies.

One caveat. If all the new franchises tank, there might be an Iron Man 4

Does magic exist in the MCU? The Asgardians are aliens and their magic is just advanced technology. Dr. Strange would be an odd addition without some sort of change in his origins.

It's never actually been explicitly stated that magic doesn't or can't exist in the MCU, as far as I can recall.

But being an Asgardian, wouldn't her sorcery actually be "science"?

But certain things that we've seen Loki do, in particular his illusion casting, seem to come from an innate ability and not a gadget or gizmo.

As I understand it, they want to introduce him for the purpose of introducing magic.

I would define Loki's illusion casting as magic.

I don't think that Asgardian magic itself has been ruled out, just the idea that they are gods has been ruled out.

That's the question a Dr.Strange movie will answer according to Feige. While the Asgardians might have alluded that their magic&science are one in the same based on perspective that doesn't mean that magic itself doesn't exist in the MCU. We just haven't had a portal character into that realm yet.

I don't think anything in the Thor universe is supposed to be magic, just something we don't understand. Even if it's biological instead of technological. Although I'm not sure it is if Loki and his adoptive mother both have the same ability.

In Thor, Thor said that on Asgard science and magic "were one and the same".

I'd always assumed Loki's abilities were magic, or at least what we would call magic here on Earth.
