Well given the subject and the talent already deployed I don't think I've got a tribble's chance on Qo'noS of winning this month, but it's time for the old Academy try. [My main advantage would be that the JJverse likes shiny, and I know shiny.] ...I'm going in a different direction from the ones I've seen so far, more of a TNG vibe with a vertical warp core. Here's the basic mockup to start:
Here's a little more, added outer consoles and railings, and widened the core. I'm going to push the consoles back and widen the circular decks.
We all know the JJPrise is HUGE compared to what it should be but don't forget the size/scale. Make sure your design could fit inside. JJ may not care about such things but we should.
Oh, I disagree. It should be the most wonderful thing you can imagine and put to pixels. The very nature of the JJ precludes any consideration for scale. The only thing is that is be impressive. Making sense is the least of his concerns, and it should be the least of the designers for this contest. The ones we've seen so far are fantastic if not fantastical.
No Trek production has been overly concerned with fitting sets into the "proper" space, starting with the shuttlebay, the bridge, and the unknown location of engineering at its corridors. TMP was just as bad, with the rec dec, a cargo bay set that they initially had no idea of how it would fit in the ship, and an engineering set that used set-extending paintings in every direction, making it too large to fit in the ship.
Well I didn't have time to fully flesh this out, so I'm going with a concept-art approach rather than a fully realized render... and decided to have a little fun with the aesthetics of JJ's little side project in a galaxy far, far, away.
LOL...love it. But we all know...hand rails aren't allowed near bottomless pits in the Star Wars universe. lol ;-)
...or at least they're strongly discouraged. You'd think that would have hiked the Empire healthcare plan to *ahem* astronomical levels.
quite the opposite. people can run into handrails and bruise themselves, requiring medical attention. if they fall into an open chasm and disappear in the labyrinthine depths of a warship's superstructure, well... we'll just mark them AWOL and terminate their pay and benefits.
