Fookin great. Heavier than Moving Pictures in 2007! Had no idea.

Here's Boogie Nights. I liked this, ( even if I wouldn't admit it when I was 13 & liking Disco was a sin punishable by death or Rumba), way back when.

voggmo, when your thread has five posts, four of them being yours isn't a particularly good thing. Try editing your posts to add more information / thoughts, rather than bumping the thread with a new post. Thanks.

Be glad too when you've fixed the edit button feature so that I don't have to re-log in EVERY time I make an edit.

Sounds more like a problem with your cookies than the site.

Anyway, best bassline ever, easy. The Millionaire Waltz by John Deacon of Queen.

Edit function works fine for me.

Best bass intro to a song in the last 10 years: Comeback (Light Therapy) - Josh Rouse

and hard to argue with the bass solo in My Generation

The John Paul Jones bass line for Zep's Dazed and Confused
I'll third Entwhistle's one for My Generation
    Geezer Butler in Sabbath's 'NIB'
Steve Harris in tonnes of Maiden songs. Hallowed Be Thy Name has a good bassline, for example.

Lemmy has a good solo on No Sleep Til Hammersmith. I agree though, John Entwistle's is the s--t. Started a revolution in bass thinking.

Harris has loads of em. Agreed. Aces High beginning part.

Geezer did another one on Dehumanizer Master of Insanity. Also the Middle part of Time machine.

I don't think it's anything to do with the Edit button. Are you checking "Remember Me" when you log in? That seems to clear up the timeout problem for most people.

    Bass lines:

Roger Glover's in "Highway Star" - Deep Purple
Chris Squire's in "Roundabout" - Yes
John Entwistle's in "Young Man Blues" (Live at Leeds) and "The Real Me" (Quadrophenia) - The Who
Mel Schacher's in "Black Licorice" - GFRR
Dave Pegg's in "Dirty Linen" and "Sloth" (Live Convention) - Fairport Convention
Patrick O'Hearn's in "The Ocean Is the Ultimate Solution" - Mothers
Pretty much anything by Jaco Pastorius
Jack Bruce's in "Apostrophe" - Zappa
Les Claypool's in "Tommy the Cat" - Primus

    D Man - great call.

Song most driven and defined by its bass line: In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida
