I really wanted Revell to do a Uss vengeance kit. 1:500 like their Enterprise .

If they did - i'd get both and have them on their stands facing each other.

But they're not doing one.. .:(

Nope, they don't have the license to produce merchandise for NuTrek.

Stores refuse to carry the larger ones not part of the Blu-ray. Maybe they will carry these.

We really got to find a way to get some ceti eel slugs into the ears of some executives.

"You will put out trek products."
"We will put out trek products."

"you will burn all Duck Dynasty products...and NASCAR junk"
    "we will...

Get yourself the Eaglemoss 2009 Movie Enterprise.

That sucker's BIG, bigger than the Hotwheels Vengeance, even. Interestingly, though, it seems to be almost the same scale as the hotwheels USS Kelvin so they're a pretty good fit ^_^

Now I saw a new line of Star Trek Hot Wheels offerings at the Wal Mart. On its own peg and not hidden by hundreds of other non-spaceship junk.

But guess what? They were all just cars and vans with ST actors on the sides.

    Err...

Mattel probably feels that it's easier to sell those as limited edition collectibles at Walmart and other retail stores than ships. And they may be right if there are more people willing to buy Star Trek-themed cars and vans...

But they put out Vipers in the retro Battlestar Galactica offerings of similar card sizes.

It's like they are trying to be difficult.

That wasn't Mattel, that was Hasbro (through their now defunct Galoob/Micro Machine line).
I think it's more of a case that Mattel couldn't really get their bigger scale Trek ships back in U.S. retail stores and are now pushing a couple of them through their regular Hot Wheels line at a smaller scale. The problem with that--as some longtime Hot Wheels collectors can probably attest to--is that finding some particular vehicles there can be purely a matter of being in the right store at the right time.

There was a Hot Wheels release of the 70s Viper and Raider last year.

Those were limited edition, that would explain their scarcity at retail stores with some not even carrying them at all.

Hmmm... I'm desperately hoping that Mattel has a few more Trek 'tricks' up their sleeves... [by that I mean actual Trek ship diecasts - rather than cars with 'trek' logos on them...]

I have a feeling they haven't played all their cards... yet...

    :)

I'm not going to hold my breath. Lack of interest in the line led them to not even re-release the "1:50" nuEnterprise last year when it would have made the most sense with STID being in theaters.

Something that retails for $14.00 is going to have a more limited audience than something that retails for $1.50.

I hope so too. I get the feeling that we will have to wait for it to coincide with the release of Star Trek III (XIII) on the 50th Anniversary though.

Even though I'm collecting the higher quality Eaglemoss die-casts now, I'll still pick up that next set to complete my Hot Wheels collection.
