Makes sense. Can't say I'm disappointed, though.

Oh great, don't re-release the prequel I actually kinda enjoy in cinemas!

(Attack of the Clones for anybody that cares.)

Understandable. With all this great buzz surrounding Abrams and the new movies, the last thing they want to do is remind people again of the prequels.

Although I have to admit I was looking forward to seeing the OT in 3D.

The prequels were hugely successful and judging by review aggregate websites were well enough received. The idea that the general public hate them is a total myth. Revenge of the Sith was one of the highest grossing films of that decade. It wouldn't have been if everybody hated the previous 2 movies.

3d is rediculous. Does't bother me much.

I was looking forward to getting to see Return of the Jedi in a theater, becuase it's the only one I haven't actually seen in a theater.

Actually if you adjust for inflation. The OT still beats the Prequels.

I thought the 3D on TPM was mostly awful although I read on IGN that the AOTC and ROTS 3D looked much better. I think the not-so-stellar box office from TPM 3D helped lead to this decision, along with the development of the new sequel trilogy.

Yeah but the prequels still beat almost any movie ever made at the box office. Regardless if people on the internet were annoyed that Jar Jar wasn't funny.

Well yeah, because A) it was still SW, and B) everyone wanted to see Anakin finally become Vader.

Hell, I couldn't stand them and I still saw each one 3 times in the theater (and later bought them on DVD). That's how strong a grip the franchise has on people.

Dammit, I wish someone could have told Lego... instead of heaps of classic Star Wars sets we're set for at least a year of non stop Episode II lego!!! :klingon: (I shouldn't complain, the new rancor pit looks amazing) But I wonder if this will affect other marketing/merch plans.

That being said, there's no way we'll be watching ep. 7 in 2015. It'll be 2016 or 2017.
I wonder how long The Clone Wars is going to stretch...

This is too bad in that my 10 year old son is a huge Star Wars fan and with the exception of The Clone Wars, never saw a SW movie in the theater until TPM came out in 3D last year. He was really looking forward to seeing all of them in 3D.

Are they still going to be converted for a blu ray 3D release?

Damn. I couldn't care less about the prequels, but I was really looking forward to seeing the OT on the big screen.

^ Yeah, I've never seen the OT on the big screen, and I really wanted to see the original film at least...

The asteroid chase from ESB would have been awesome in 3D.

Yup. 3D or not, I will always take the chance to see the OT on the big screen.

If anything, I'd think this suggests the 2015 date is still on, and that they're trying to build anticipation accordingly...
