I've seen recons of all the missing stories but I decided to go with existing stories only. Otherwise Evil of the Daleks, The Daleks' Masterplan and The Abominable Snowmen would make the cut. 1) Ghost Light 2) Warriors' Gate 3) The Deadly Assassin 4) The Seeds of Doom 5) The Aztecs 6) Curse of Fenric 7) The Ribos Operation 8) Remembrance of the Daleks 9) Pyramids of Mars 10) Kinda
I decided to include recons, but I can see your reasoning for not. In chronological order: - Marco Polo - Evil of the Daleks - Inferno - The Deadly Assassin - Warriors' Gate - Kinda - Revelation of the Daleks - Remembrance of the Daleks - Ghost Light - The Curse of Fenric Pyramids of Mars over Inferno?! You crazy?!
Inferno would be my favourite Pertwee serial along with The Silurians and the rest of S7. I love too many Doctor Who stories . Pyramids of Mars is just that good. Seeds of Doom is the show at its scariest though.
In no particular order and without any real thought: Caves of Androzani Tomb of the Cybermen Genesis of the Daleks Ghost Light Curse of Fenric The Invasion The Hand of Fear The Talons of Weng-Chiang City of Death Spearhead from Space
Nice! Put some of those on my own list at first. Tomb of the Cybermen would be my favourite surviving Troughton and the finest TV Cybermen story. Though that's damning it with mild praise.
Hard to say for me, as there is a lot I havent watched (about 3 dozen dvds I need to, and recently been watch some Colin Bakers, too new for me to judge) But my top ten is The Time Meddler The Tomb of the Cyberman The Invasion Planet of the Daleks Genesis of the Daleks Horror of Fang Rock City of Death Remembrance of the Daleks Ghostlight Curse of Fenric Honorable mentions The Daemons The Two Doctors (loved Pat in this) Black Orchid
Dunno what I'm more pleased about in this thread. The frequence of McCoy stories or the lack of Catherine Tate ones . LOVE it. My favourite multi-Doc story.
The last episode of Pyramids was run towards the end of the National Film Theatre weekend of old episodes back in 1983. My then 12-year-old sister, and already a massive fan, turned round to me and said "I didn't realise it could be this good!" Beyond that... is this a Top 10 from the original run, or is it just that no-one nominated anything from the new run?
I think people are more likely to put classic serials in their Top 10 rather than the new stuff, fun as it is.
Speaking personally, I honestly forgot the new series existed when I made my list. There are obviously good new series stories (Empty Child/Doctor Dances, Amy's Choice, etc.), but I don't think I'd replace anything on my list with a new series story.
The Caves of Androzani Vincent and the Doctor Greatest Show in the Galaxy Father's Day Remembrance of the Daleks Logopolis The Wedding of River Song The Talons of Weng Chiang The War Games (more for respect at the sheer ballsy moves they pulled) Revelation of the Daleks This list could very easily change (barring the top few) if you asked me again tomorrow.
Talons Of Weng Chiang Marco Polo Robots Of Death Kinda The Romans The Curse Of Fenric Web Of Fear Image Of The Fendahl The Massacre The Power Of The Daleks
1) Remembrance of the Daleks 2) War Games 3) Turn Left/Stolen Earth/Journey's End(a dire last ten mins don't drag down the other 80) 4) Curse of Fenric 5) Genesis Of The Daleks 6) Blink 7) Day of the Daleks SE 8) The Seeds of Doom 9) The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit 10) The Romans Haven't gotten to mccoy yet in my rewatch, so ghost light or one of the other really late ones might conceivably pop romans off. A sad thing that Who got cancelled when it did in the eighties, really looked like it was on the road to becoming something special again.
Just that it was so short - I was talking more of becoming the kind of absurdly high level of continual quality we got during the Hinchcliffe/Holmes era.
Tomb of the cybermen The five Doctors The mind Robber Caves of Androzoni Dalek Blink Earthshock genesis of the Daleks The invasion Enlightenment
'ello Jim, fancy seeing you here! Mike from The Hive. Anyway: Genesis of the Daleks Doctor Who and the Silurians Spearhead from Space Pyramids of Mars The Invasion The Daleks Inferno The Caves of Androzani The Talons of Weng-Chiang Revelation of the Daleks I think.
