Superhero Hype passes along a blog post from visual effects supervisor Karen Goulekas:

When the Australian shoot was scrapped there was trepidation given WB's history of pulling the plug on DC films at the last minute, so this is welcome news indeed.

It was reported last month that five actresses are rumored to be in the final running to play Carol Ferris: Eva Green, Keri Russell, Blake Lively, Diane Kruger, and Jennifer Garner. We should learn who gets the role very soon, along with who's playing the villains and supporting parts.

Looking forward. I hear the last draft is a terrific script.

Michelle Monaghan should play Carol Ferris.

I don't know why Eva Green would be considered at all. She shoudn't get any bonus points for working with Martin Campbell on the Bond film. She couldn't fake a convincing American accent if she tried.

Diane Kruger has the same problem. And are brunettes suddenly in such short supply that they need to throw blondes like Kruger and the too-young Blake Lively into the mix? (Full disclosure--I didn't complain when Kate Bosworth was cast as Lois Lane in Superman Returns. Sue me.)

Jennifer Garner is four years older than Ryan Reynolds; I'd prefer someone the same age or slightly younger. I like Keri Russell but I can't picture her as Carol Ferris at all.

I would've given Rose Byrne the thumbs up, but her name doesn't seem to be circulating any more (as far as Green Lantern is concerned, anyway).

And Bosworth didn't play Lois Lane as a blonde. Hair dye and wigs aren't in short supply in Hollywood. ;)

Exactly. Hair color doesn't matter. Actors change their hair color for parts all the time . . . .

And given that Reynolds recently co-starred with Sandra Bullock, I'm don't think age is really an issue here.

Nor does it matter whether they decide to play Carol Ferris as a blonde. Makes not one bit of difference.

Having said that, I like Kruger best.

...you know, you don't have to go see it if you don't like the idea of the movie....

And I won't. Am I not free to wish for what I would like to see in a Green Lantern movie as a longtime reader of comics?

Ryan Reynolds is the bigger problem for me, he's regularly out-acted by the furniture.

Walter Koenig should get a part of some kind. Apparently at a con, Walter was going from point A to Point B and encountered a guy wearing a GL logo'd T-Shirt.

Koenig asked where it had come from, the guy responded.

Checkov/Bester then placed his hand on the lantern emblem and said:

"In brightest day, in blackest night,
No evil shall escape my sight
Let those who worship evil's might,
Beware my power... Green Lantern's light!"

    ...and walked off. :techman:

Incidentally, you may wish Rachel Nichols a Happy Birthday tomorrow. She celebrates 30.

And she loves Twitter and, so far, replies to every single message she gets. So if anyone's on Twitter and wants to send her a message she'll probably answer.
