The narrow window to "get it right" is the ballsy play.
Will he look more like Caesar from Apes reboot (meaning believable) or Scooby Doo?

Marvel has had such a good streak that the first hint of a bad decision will be magnified.

Rocket's a foul-mouthed, furry animal. What could be better?

This is the time for Marvel to take chances on their movies and I'm glad they decided to do so with Guardians of the Galaxy. I'm actually betting on Rocket Racoon and Groot being the breakout "stars" of the movie, as they were in the series (to the extent that, when Guardians ended and Marvel published two mini-series with The Annihilators--pretty much all their All-Star cosmic heroes--Rocket and Groot got a back-up in each mini).

I have to wonder if the August 4th day is so the movie is away from summer blockbusters.

Like some have said, it's an out of the field choice for a marvel movie.

If it does fail I don't think Marvel will shed too many tears

While not unexpected, I am sad to hear they're not involved in the film making. However, it is nice that they recognized Keith Giffen and Jim Starlin.

^^A little shout-out to the late-great Mark Gruenwald would have been nice too, but I'll just be happy that we might be getting a GotG movie.

Not sure how those costumes are any more "impractical" than the ones seen in the promo artwork for the film. Most of the original Guardians of the Galaxy were created in the 70s.

Ah, that sounds exactly NOT like Guardians of the Galaxy in either iteration.

You really think sexy, ultra-tight superhero costumes in space are practical?

He would have been a great Hal Jordan. Him or Nathan Fillion.

^Well, Nathan Fillion has played Hal in the last two animated movies with the character, and he's voicing him in Robert Chicken's DC Special. So he's pretty clearly Hal already.

    EXHIBIT A
    EXHIBIT B
    True.
So perhaps the reason Exhibit A exists is because of Exhibit B?

Still, why would they green light this project if they didn't like the main thrust of what they already had? How major a rewrite are we talking? A page one rewrite or just some fine tuning?

Well, the US pilot who ends up in space could be Star-Lord.

Most likely since Feige's list of characters for the press release mentioned him AND he's in the artwork.

Still be nice if it was astronaut traveling to the nearest solar system Vance Astro.

I was thinking that they seemed to be combining traits from both Astro and Quill for the movie Starlord, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. However, I do think that they should've kept Quill a Brit.

So will Rocket Racoon be played by a midget in a suit or will he be CGI? :rommie:
