Meyer would've been fun, but really that should be filed in the "Anyone Other Than Baird" stack.

Scott is an interesting choice, but I doubt he would've gone for it. Still, Frakes did a good job, and I like that he did his homework on horror/thriller sci-fi films to prepare for FC.

RS may as well have done FC as he was having a hard time of it during the 90s was he not? - GI Jane and White Squall

it certainly wouldve been a marketing coup - 'the director of Alien & BR returns to SF to direct the latest Star Trek movie!'' i could see 'A Ridley Scott Film' being very prominent on all the posters and trailers etc

Meyer would have been perfect for Nemesis and probably would have honed a pretty good film out of such a dull script.

This coming from someone who doesn't think much of him.

Too much of Trek? That's pretty sad. :( He made two of the best films.

Didn't Meyer say no to GEN?

A 'NO' from Leonard Nimoy for directing Generations, I think. Although originally the opening scene was to have been him and De with Shatner one last time. So a Directing gig with an appearance as Spock during the disastrous Enterprise-B launch.

acording to imdb trivia for NEM Meyer was approached to direct but he wanted script input but the logan script was locked..so no go

on the FC trivia it states both Scott was approched as well as the Die Hard director

id have thought RS was a more apt choice for Nem due to the Gladiator writer (with Meyer for FC due to the timetravel element) but Scott wouldve been too big for Trek post Gladiator

How would he be perfect for a film which shamelessly ripped off his own great work?

I doubt Meyer would have left the script untouched.

I think it was more subtle than that. He was offered and wanted the directing job, but he also wanted input on the script, which was already locked, and that was one of the stipulations to him appearing in the movie. Nimoy didn't get the directing gig (he declined it, after not getting script input), so he didn't appear in the film.

Meyer and Ridley Scott would have made NG films better, absolutely.

Having Meyere could play on the success of TWOK, but Ridley Scott might have been a coup of sorts, it might also have brought people to the cinema who might otherwise not go see a Star Trek.

You do not get it--Meyer slumming on a ripoff of his own work would make him appear desperate, and trying to relive past glory.

He did not need that overflowing toilet of a film.
