I mean J.J does copy the structure of the SW OT. The first movie was wery much like the New Hope it would make sense that the tone and even the structure from the second movie will be similar to EsB. is Pike going to be revealed as a bad guy or someone who has to dod something really evil in order to achiev the greater good. He has to be in some shadowy cabal according to the Archon comic and it would also make sense since J.J. imitates Star wars. i really that cabal will be Section 31. Any toughts?
I'd actually like them to concentrate on the main characters, Pike and Spock Prime should be left behind.
Not the mentor figure but Anakin did turn evil. And Pike is almost like Kirks second father so it would make sense.
Yeah...where do you get that JJ is imitating Star Wars? Because he threw in a 1-second easter egg of R2D2?
Well, the sheer number of coincidences required to move the story forward would make you think the Midi-chlorians were driving the whole thing.
That sounds at least as much like Jim Phelps in the first Mission: Impossible movie as it does Darth Anyone in Star Wars. I could do without Section 31 putting in an appearance, tbh.
The Narada is wery similar to the death Star in terms of destructive ability. Important peACEFULL PLANET blownup...check Old mentor figure living in exile...check Cantina scene, j J wanted one but decided not to go trough with it..Check Final battle onboard the Death Star/Narada...Check Hero without purpose on Iowa/Tatooine...Check
I did know that but he was an important part of the team and he that said he or they took inspiration from SW.
Nu-uh. This video PROVES it's a scene-for-scene rip-off of Starship Troopers! [YT]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VL_nHrYPxNw[/YT]
One action movie does tend to be a lot like another, doesnt it? You could take any numner of summer popcorn flicks and create a checklist like this. Its a testament to the creative straightjacket of the two hour Hollywood action movie format, not JJ Abrams nefarious desire to draw down Star Trek. If you want more, Star Trek needs to get back on TV, where the straightjacket will be a bit looser.
Aaand so what? Different movies often have a number of story elements and plot devices in common without being copies of one another; this is not news. You could draw at least as many parallels between Star Wars and Sink the Bismarck!
