Disappointed to hear about Costner dropping out of this, and I agree that it is possible QT might go for a lesser known actor for the role. This is still a fantastic cast without him though. I can't wait for a trailer.
I've always thought of him as being a cross between Ford and Costner. But I'd say he's a better actor than either and it's inexplicable that he never became a bigger star.
^By his own admission, a lot of his troubles had to do with cocaine. His bad reputation followed him, long after he cleaned up.
Here's a fun fact: in The Manchurian Candiate (1962), Angela Lansbury played Laurence Harvey's mother, and was utterly convincing in the part--despite being only three years older than her co-star.
I wasn't disagreeing with you, I just found it funny. Though I do think Foxx is starting to look his age these days.
http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=82809 Kurt Russell to replace Kevin Costner. I can't believe we overlooked this guy to replace Costner, but by golly, I like it!
^Agreed. Someone off our radar...but a terrific choice! Also Dennis Christopher was cast a few days before this, meant to link the article but forgot.
Funny, in Man of Steel Costner plays Jonathan Kent, while Jor-El is played by Russell Crowe, who, like Costner, has played Robin Hood. Here, he's replaced by Kurt Russell, who, like Costner, has played Wyatt Earp. And who has half of Russell Crowe's name!
As a major fan of Quentin Tarantino--I must say, I am REALLY looking forward to this! (I can't believe I haven't commented on this, before now....)
So Costner was replaced by his 3,000 Miles to Graceland co-star Kurt Russell and now it looks like his Tin Cup co-star Don Johnson ( who claims to have turned down The Untouchables before it was offered to Kevin) might be joining the cast: http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=83110
Talk about six degrees of Kevin Bacon. I completely forgot Costner and Russell were in that Elvis heist movie.
