This is one of my notable films of the year so I'll be watching...in 2D though if it's available otherwise I'll pass on it.

Been waiting to see how a serious, straightforward 3D drama with critical cred will be received... this could be just that test run.

Also, 3D Kate Winslet? I'm definitely interested.

Yeah, I've been looking forward to this one as well.

I don't ordinarily care for 3D, but now I'm actually curious to see what Soderbergh does with it.

But is Soderbergh going to ignore X-Men: The Last Stand?

If they can figure out something to do with this topic that I haven't seen before, I might check it out.

Soderbergh is pretty great. Law is pretty great. Why not? I may watch it.

Oh wow. I have a shelf of epidemic books and a plush Ebola toy on my desk at work. I'm very much interested.

I have Outbreak on DVD. Silly as it is, it's a great romp. There was actually a competing movie called "Crisis in the Hot Zone" which was to be directed by Ridley Scott and to star Robert Redford and Jodie Foster. Sadly, it never got off the ground.

Both films deal with some sort of virus that is harmful to our heroes, so it doesn't look promising. :(

I saw this last night and quite enjoyed it. I wouldn't really call it an "action" thriller, though, as that synopsis quoted in the opening post did. Soderbergh took a much different approach to this type of epidemic movie than most directors do or would.

    Why was it in 3D?

    Why do hate progress?

Don't you know that's like asking "why was it in colour?" Or, "why did it have sound?"

Get with the times, or get out of the way, Grandpa. It's a whole new dimension for a whole new millennium. 3D for 3K.

    But seriously...

I don't know. I'm curious about that myself.

None of the commercials I saw mentioned 3d.

That's a very good question, and I didn't even know there was a 3D release until I saw this thread. None of the three local theaters here are showing it in 3D, though the theater with the "fake" IMAX (i.e., not full-size) has "The IMAX Experience" version (not sure if that's 3D or not). I saw absolutely nothing during the film where I thought 3D would make any sense at all. I haven't tried finding any information as to this, but I'm left wondering if the studio ended up deciding not to do a 3D version after all.

I don't think it ended up having a 3D release (although the studio did release it in IMAX, which strikes me as a bit bizarre given what I've heard about the movie).
