So...you are picked to executive produce the following movies...The studio has given you a blank check...who do you get to direct the following possible movies..who would be your go to guys... Green Lantern..the movie A new Superman Movie The Avengers movie Yet another HULK movie the rumored remakes of; Western World Clash of the Titans and Robocop... Robert Canary
Let's see... this one could be tough. I'm definitely interested in seeing what Darren Aronofsky can do for RoboCop, so I say keep him on for that. Green Lantern, hmm... I would be interested in seeing what Danny Boyle could do. I mean, I loved 28 Days Later and most of Sunshine, so I'd be interested in seeing his take on a superhero movie. A new Superman movie I would hire the Wachowski Brothers in a heartbeat, since basically Neo WAS Superman, and I think they could be very faithful to the mythos and create a new direction for him.
Joel Schumacher should direct Superman. He's got great visual and directoral flare, is good with bringing a lot of color to life and could make Superman fun again. Someone who could take the best of both Hulk movies and maybe find a quality level in between might be Andrew Davis, provided he's not washed up now. I think Tony Scott would be good with the ultra violence and satire of RoboCop.
Green Lantern..the movie - Bryan Singer A new Superman Movie - Martin Campbell The Avengers movie - Jon Favreau Yet another HULK movie - Jonathan Frakes Westworld - Paul Verhoeven Clash of the Titans - Ridley Scott RoboCop - Please do not remake RoboCop. It is perfect as is.
I am aware of that, and I happen to be a fan of Aronofsky's works, but this is one film that didn't need a remake or a reimagining. It is perfect as is.
The answer to all of these is Tom Cruise. Every movie would make a billion dollars, even in these tough economic times.
I'm still hoping against hope that Warner Bros. will give Bryan Singer another shot at Superman. For another Hulk movie, you need someone with strong story & character sensibilities (like Ang Lee) but also someone who can put that into the framework of a raucous action movie (not Ang Lee). My first 2 thoughts there would be James Cameron & Bryan Singer. I might also consider Steven Spielberg but not as he is today. I'm thinking the Spielberg of 15-20 years ago; the man who made Hook & Jurassic Park. Keep Edward Norton as Bruce Banner from The Incredible Hulk. Bring back Connelly & Elliott from Hulk (2003). After seeing Domino, I agree Tony Scott might be an interesting choice for RoboCop.
