    ^ Saw that. :D

You can simply highlight the av image and surrounding text, right-click copy and paste it into a quoted post or set of quote tags. (One thing you do want be careful about, though, doing things that way, is to avoid posting hotlinked images when copy/pasting from off-board sources such as news articles.)

A couple of people went through the thread a while back and made copies of all of the images contained within posts and archived them. One provided a link to a downloadable Zip file, if I recall correctly. I'm not sure if that applied to avatars not so posted.

    Edit:
Carpe Occasio was looking after us. :techman: The zip file link may be found in this post.

^Tragically not. That's the images that were posted inline in the thread and not, as AdmiralGarak had noted, the majority of the avatars. :(

This thread is truly the last word in sombrerositude! And I want my nacelles to be a glowing shade of electric blue.

I posted, as you said, just the inline images (which did include a few avatars) but not the user avatars because I felt they were personal to each user and I didn't think it would be appreciated making them all so readily available. I will be posting another zip file at the end of the month covering everything since the last one.

I'd imagine a lot of people have copies of sombrero avs they themselves have used archived in image-host folders or files on HD, though some will undoubtedly have been lost already. Perhaps a "Post your Sombrero Avatar" thread might serve to round up some of the strays for posterity.

    Ones I've used include:

    (Carpe Occasio)

    A still version of

    (EliyahuQeoni)

(found accompanying a news article about Linux users in Latin America)

    (Rabittooth)

I'll have to rummage on the HD of the other machine and see if I've missed any.

This forum must be getting to me. Last night I dreamt I was at a convention where Zachary Quinto appeared on stage wearing a sombrero. He then started shouting out Spock's dialogue from "The Corbomite Maneuver."

I'm giving in. Someone please sombrero-ize my avatar. Who knows, it might be an improvement.

Indeed ... but I think pookha told some of the folk in the chat, and Emh looked at the actual image. His view hasn't changed on it.

Great stuff ... and I decided to get on the act, with my own Heroes image

Better be careful teasing Emh. Anyone who can ban Chase Masterson from a Star Trek BBS would have no qualms about banning the likes of us! ;)

But seriously (In this thread!?). As I told M'Sharak, I never really expected the clip to go over very well in the Doctor Who forum. I intentionally filled the thing with as many Sombrero in-jokes as possible. Someone who hasn't been following this thread simply wouldn't get all of the little nods to the previous 1,500 posts.

Pfft ... Emh doesn't scare me. I made him in sombrero avatar, but I know he won't use it. I posted it in the lounge.
