Jeff Mariotte turns in his first Trek novel in almost a decade (Lost Era: Deny Thy Father saw release in December 2003) with this month's 5YM novel, The Folded World. I boldly suggest that its cover is even nicer than the one of Greg's! Official street date: April 30th. This review thread intro post is tightly surrounding and being held in place by the official blurb: Alas, no excerpt.
I've noticed that they seem to be releasing the covers, blurbs, exerpts, ect. a lot later than they used to.
I just picked this one up tonight at B&N. i plan to wrap up "The Weight of Worlds" tonight, then start on this new one tomorrow.
I just started it last night. Only 3 or 4 chapters in, quite the different beginning for a trek novel. At first, I thought it was a misprint. lol. But i'm really getting into it, especially this new character Mariotte created.
Lots of ships on that cover! Here's the ones I can make out: - a Y-class freighter from ENT - a Vulcan ring ship (looks like Suurok-class) - another Constitution-class ship - a Romulan bird of prey from TOS - a DY-100 - POSSIBLY an ENT-era Andorian starship (the one to the right of the Vulcan ship and below the Y-class freighter) - The only one I for sure can't make out is the one directly above the NCC-1701 saucer and below the other Connie.
I think that one is the Xyrillian ship from Enterprise's "Unexpected." EDIT: It's pretty close, anyway:
I just found last week that Jeff Mariotte is going at this year's Phoenix Comic-Con. Sadly my chances of making it are pretty low at this point.
