Forbin, you continue to remind me how much I suck at building models. :p

    Brilliantly done, as always.

Damn, John, that's truly amazing. Brilliant paint job, looks just like the original, fantastic lighting, etc. Truly inspiring. I hope one day to build one of these and also blow the dust of my refit and NX-01, which I still have in their boxes.

Forbin, that is as gorgeous a standing model of the 1701 as I have ever seen in my life. This just now struck me, if you wanted to reap some extra reward from your hard work... I'm wondering if there's a fan film producer who wouldn't want to take a day and shoot some B-roll. As advanced as video optics has become over the last 40+ years, there's no reason why your model wouldn't be better for shooting some old-style, non-CGI optical effects, than the 11-foot filming model was in 1967.

    Just an idea.

I built it for a friend in NY and delivered it this weekend. 'Tis no longer in my possession.

I weep for joy at your amazing skills. :)

Perhaps you should start making a living assembling and detailing kits.

How about a YouTube subscription which details each step of putting a model together and detailing it? It would allow you to emphasize both your interest in Star Trek amd WWIi aircraft.

These both sound like extremely tedious and annoying things to do, which would suck all the fun out of building models for relaxation. :)

Forbin, you're quite honestly the best modeller I know of. Looking at this again... just wow. Same level of being impressed that I had the first time.

I guess the photos make it look better than in real life, 'cause models I've seen at contests have shown that I'm only average. But thanks. :)

This photo is wild. :techman: Gives you an idea of what the ship would look like in deep space under real conditions with no nearby external light source.
