Good choice. he can pull off the charming con-man vibe than Hogan needs.

I've often suspected Hogan might have been on the "wrong side of the law" before the war. ;)

Obviously you don't watch Hogans Heroes for military accuracy. However, considering he was a Colonel, Hogan must have had a reasonably lengthy and successful military career be being captured. If he was on the wrong side of the law, I'd assume he was never caught.

^ Wikipedia says that Hogan was commander of the 504th Bomb Group, and graduated third in his class.

    Burque, baby!
Please see: McHale's Navy... God what a disaster...

Also, anything with Will Ferrel automatically makes it a Will Ferrel movie.. Klink needs to be happless and incompetent (Steve Carell DOES fit the roll), not over the top and loud (Will Ferrel)...

Greg Kinnear would be perfect for the role of Hogan, but I wonder if that would just be too weird, since He played Bob Crane in the bio-pic... In fact, I really don't wonder.. It would be too weird...

    On edit: Joel McHale...Brilliant!!

No, I don't. Not for historical accuracy, either.

Hogan has a gift for running con games and is quite adept at stealing using misdirection. I doubt he learned these skills at the military academy.

Jimmy Stewart went from 2nd Lieutenant to full Colonel in about three years while serving in the USAAF in WWII.

Yes, and to my knowledge Jimmy Stewart never got caught on the wrong side of the law.

I never said Hogan got caught. The Germans never really caught him while operating out of Stalag 13 and I doubt the Americans could either. I saw this quote about Hogan from a first season episode. "If you weren't one of their prisoners, you'd be one of ours".

The Stewart example shows you didn't have to be a lifer with a long time in the service to make Colonel in WWII.

Okay, I'll bite -- how does this go back in time and alter your childhood?

The same way JJ Abrams went back in time and erased everyone's Star Trek collections.;)

I tried to watch Star Trek IV the other day, but my DVD did nothing but show a white screen with the rotating head of J.J. Abrams mocking me. It was horrible! :wah:

Mine showed nothing but Alice Eve in her underwear. A fair trade.
