The theme for this week is anything set in Europe between 1800 and 1899.

I originally wasn't going to geographically limit it, but decided to make things a little more challenging by cutting off access to the whole Western genre. ;)

    No SF/F allowed.

Do you consider the UK to be part of Europe or are you limiting it to just the continent of Europe itself?

I know you want to cut out the Western genres, and that's fine, but limiting it to Europe cuts out some other things that aren't Westerns that I and others would have used, like Murdoch Mysteries ( Crime Drama set in the 1890's Toronto, very Victorian in its look right down to the Bobbies) and Copper (1860's NY).

Yeah, but, it's a hundred years and a whole continent. Seems like plenty of material.

Yeah, but my point is that thematically it would all but fit if it weren't for the European restriction.

This is what I'd be entering:

Ditto. Plenty else to choose from, Owain!
It's part of Europe last time I checked! :)
This needs to be shrunk to 150x150.

My entry. Couldn't really get into the book, but loved the movie!

Woody Allen in Love and Death. Assuming comedy and satire qualify.

Robin Hood, Captain Blood, and The Sea Hawk give me some confidence.

Western Russia is oftentimes considered to be part of Europe, so the Crimean War is fine.
