If you've been following all of the Xbox One news, you probably knew this was coming. A new Xbox Live update today officially did away with the Microsoft Points system. Now everything on the Marketplace is priced in your local currency. Also, any points you had before today have been converted to currency that can be used towards Marketplace purchases. Here's the official FAQ on the transition.
Finally! Now we can finally discard this crappy bartering system and move into the bronze age with actual currency.
And in typical Microsoft fashion they hosed that up as well. More than half the accounts have credits locked out (mine included) 7,110 MSP locked out. I tried to download something free (from the website) and it told me I needed to update how I was going to pay...Ummmm why? 1. What I'm trying to DL is FREE. 2. I have 7,110 MSP in my account, why do you need anything from me? I have no intentions of giving them credit card/bank account info, I hope they don't try and force the issue. I'm going to try it right from the Xbox when I get home.
^If XBL is gonna force me to input a card # for a DL than fuck em, I remember Sony's little mishap and that's why I use prepaid cards ONLY
I did the conversion, went to buy something and it wants me to enter another payment option. I hope they sort this out soon.
I meant to come back in here and update. I went on via the xbox and just said I wanted to buy a $1.00 item, it then told me that I had 7,110 MSP and asked if I wanted to convert them, of course I said yes and it told me I had $88.88 in credit. So if you are still having issues try it through the console. BTW it did not ask for any other info after the conversion.
