Check it out... http://news.yahoo.com/s/space/20100217/sc_space/astronautsbaskinspectacularviewsfromnewspacewindows EDIT: Dammit, that probably should be from a TIE fighter even though they're similar...
The Falcon/TIE fighter/Emperor's window type of windows are meant to resemble those on WWII fighters, I think. So they sort of have a basis in reality. The prequels kind of took the concept one step further with ships that were clearly based on the SR-71 blackbird (the Naboo cruisers and fighters) and the gunships are clearly Hind helicopter analogs.
Kinda bugs me that NASA-TV's channel on YouTube posts HD versions of all the flight day highlight videos... except the day that they open up the thing I've been waiting for since ISS construction began! EDIT: Ah, good! They've now added the HQ versions!
There's a larger version of the view looking out the window(s) here and ESA's page about the cupola here.
Here is a nice hi-res view: http://www.spaceflight.nasa.gov/gallery/images/station/crew-22/hires/s130e009694.jpg
I considered it but since this post wasn't "Hey, the ISS got a window" but rather "Hey, the ISS window looks like something out of Star Wars" I put it here.
