Spider-Man movie (casting, rumors, pix till release)

Yep, looks like Spider-Man alright.

 

Trailer is supposed to be attached to Captain America. Cool.

And while it may have a few odd details here and there, I think overall the suit works quite well. It's also nice to see Spidey be long and lean again, and not so damn short and squat.

 

Ok, I will admit the suit actually looks pretty cool in ET cover pic.

 

He looks like a Pat Lee drawing with that long neck!

 

Except for the hair, Garfield looks a lot more like the Peter Parker from the John Romita Sr. years (he did the definitive Spidey, imo). Toby didn't look at all like him.

 

I agree, but at least he's not portraying a physical paragon like Superman. I remember Brandon Routh had a slightly longer neck and lanky figure while he was Superman. He just didn't seem quite the right type for it.

How come for the first movie, everyone was like "You can't have the web shooters. They're too unrealistic. Audiences won't find it believable." And practically everyone was in agreement with that.

And now they've done what supposedly couldn't be done in a movie.

 

Looks like he should have Spaulding stamped on his ass.

Eh.

 

Other than the eyes, it's as far removed from Ditko as you can get.

^ that article say a trailer will be attached to SOME showings of Captain America. it also quote the EW piece and says Lizard IS the villain...

Ok, this movie is starting to look better and better.

 

I've had a nearly identical thought. I recall all the "It'll take too long to explain him making them, testing them etc". Or another favorite, "No one will believe a teen is really that smart or capable."

I think those were just excuses to accept the fact Hollywood wanted to flex it's muscle and do change for change sake. Granted they pulled it off, so well in fact Marvel altered Peter in the books themselves.

I'd argue that if you look at US students across the board broadly they could use with a "smart bookish" persona to look at and say, "Hey, radiocative bite or not being smart allowed him to do 'x' when opportunity struck."

 

Organic webshooters might be more "believable", but it also struck me as being kinda weird and creepy too.

 

Which fed into the whole outcase/socially introverted-ness of Raimi's Parker.

 

That first show makes me think Gwen will figure out the truth pretty quickly, now that she's seen that Peter is pretty muscled under his clothes and gets beat up a lot.

 

^ I would agree regarding Gwen finding out early. The shots of Emma Stone's Gwen kind of remind me of "The Spectacular Spider-Man" version of the character. The webshooters look okay as well.
