Wow, Jerry's music suite to open the film brings back so many memories.

Ha, that's right, the 'dream within a dream' start.

    Ok, I'll be back later.

Ya love the sound track for this film! One of Jerry Goldsmith's best IMO.

My favorite moment is the change in the surround sound when the Borg cut in to the radio chatter during the battle.

I liked the theme from this movie a lot. It is also my favorite ST film to date.

I watched this film in HD recently, and the Enterprise-E really grew on me when I saw her that way. I guess her level of detail was more suited to the big screen, and I hadn't had a proper look before.

I watched it myself last week for the first time in three years, great film. While I do love the theme music and think it is easily one of the best Trek themes, the actual score on the film left me unimpressed because it felt like a generic action score and not necessarily "Star Trek". James Horner's scores for 2 & 3 have really grown on me over the last few years.

I'm another one who loves the music. It's one of the two Trek ST's I've got on CD (the other being an amazing gift) mainly for the opening music.

I've only got this film on VHS at the moment and honestly can't wait to get it on DVD. It's one of my favourites in the series, and has tremendous scenes throughout

Yup. The soundtrack is just about the film's only redeeming quality.

Only managed to get up to the assault on deck 16 scene cos my little girl woke up and wanted "dadadadadadada".

Still enjoyable up to where I got to through.

Loved the space battle, even if it is extremely short.

Why do the Borg cut power to Deck 16 THEN try and bash their way into sickbay? Why not leave power on to the door servos then just walk in?! Seemed a bit silly to me. Picardo's cameo took me by surprise, it's been so long since I'd seen this film! And it seems sooo much more obvious now that sickbay belongs to Voyager.

Will try and watch the rest tonight.

I liked Horner's score too at first, until I heard it again in Battle Beyond the Stars (this was a few years before TWOK, but I did not see it when it opened) and Aliens, then it became apparent that early in his career he just recycled the same music cues over and over and hoped no one noticed. How dare he underestimate the analness of Trekkies!!!?!?

Of all the Next Generation movies, everything about FC holds up very well. I enjoy it as much as I ever did, unlike STVI which has become more annoying the more I watch it.

I know! I used think ST6 was the best film, even better than TWOK, but then when I watched it as an 'adult' I started seeing all the silly plot points and grandstanding by Shatner and the oh-so-we're-the-best-at-everything final scene.

The Borg cut power to all decks except Deck 16. I'd also guess the reason they couldn't get straight in is that Engineering had just enough warning to lock down Sickbay before they were all assimilated.

But there was no warning, except unless in the event of a power disruption the sickbay doors lock automatically.

Was sickbay on deck 16? Maybe if it were on deck 17 then yes the power would be cut, the doors would lock (like everywhere else) and they'd have to bash through.

Yes, sickbay was on Deck 16. I'm not sure if it was ever officially stated, but it was the only part of the ship that we saw that had full power after the Borg cut power to the other decks, and Worf ordered a security officer to "get these people back to Deck 15" after Crusher and the medical staff came out of the Jefferies tube.

But in either case, the doors locked BEFORE the Borg cut power to the other decks, which means that someone must have sealed them. I suppose that they could have been locked due to having a 21st century woman on board, but that seems unlikely.

Every ship built after Wolf 359 automatically keeps the doors locked when Borg approach. D'uh!

I still haven't found time to watch the rest of the film!

The wife goes away for a night next week to Auckland so I'll have a free night... once the baby goes to bed however...

I believe that several, if not all of the Trek films have been aired in HD on one of the premium cable channels here in the States.
