As most of us know, it wasn't uncommon for characters from one series to make appearances in others. Bashir and Quark did on TNG, Picard and Riker (well, sort of Riker) did on DS9, and Troi and Barclay did on VOY. But Reg never appeared on DS9, and I wish he had. I think it would have been great to see him interact with the crew, especially his former Enterprise shipmates. What do you guys think a DS9 episode with Reg might have been like? What would you have liked to see?
Let's see, he and Quark would discuss the finer points of sex holodeck programs. He'd inevitably be teamed up with O'brien to solve the problem of the week. Worf would grumble about his holodeck programs. And after it was all over Sisko would file a restraining order for him never to return to his station.
Heck, Reg was probably the author of all holodeck sex programs Quark used. I would think he had successful sideline business while with Starfleet, especially in re-interpreting the classics of literature. But on the station? He'd probably be the cause of the Crisis Of The Week.
I, for one, can easily picture him falling in love with one of the characters in Bashir's spy holo-program.
Having just watched all of Reg's VOY appearances, I for one lament his absence from DS9. Heck, even the mention of his name got an appreciative chuckle from the audience at my BOBW screening!
I agree that Reg would somehow work with O'Brian, and Worf would make some off the cuff remark about his off hours activities. However I think he'll probably fall for Leeta, as his character trait is probably most similar to Rom.
If Reg had visited DS9, he would have definitely rented a holosuite from Quark on more than one occasion.
Maybe a Founder impersonating Broccoli to gain control of the station I can picture Odo making Barclay sweat under interrogation.
Just what I was thinking . Can envision a lot of eye-rolling. He asked Quark to stay and was kind of stuck with him. I can imagine diffident Barclay would have been a different proposition. 'Cool' Barclay?..now there's an intriguing scenario...
If there was a good opportunity for Barclay to appear in DS9 it was as an assistant to Louis Zimmerman. He's established to have been involved in the creation of EMH's in Projections, a year and a half before Doctor Bashir, I presume. Sisko kept Quark around the station because he was 'The devil you know'. He was a person with a handle on all the illegal dealings on the station, who was not a murderer and could be used to gain information on more dangerous criminals. If he had stayed in the weapons game he wouldn't have lasted on the station much longer.
