Another secular Christmas for this atheist and her family of atheists! I'll be spending Christmas at my mother's, as usual, which, once the snow starts falling, could be the picture on a freaking Christmas card!
I went to hang out with some friends earlier in the week. The intention was to go see "Skyfall" that evening, yet somehow I got roped into helping them buy a Christmas tree and setting up decorations before we went to the theater. I swear it looked like Christmas vomited all over their living room. They have boxes and boxes of decorations.
My gingerbread house: (from a kit, I cheated a little) My big (sorta) tree: Close ups of some of the ornaments and dolls: My "Trek-mas" tree:
The wife has the tree up and I have bought lights for the outside, now I just need my shoulder to get better so I can put the lights up. Maybe next weekend.
Mom and Dad have been married 50 years. They tend to add several new ornaments each year. It adds up!
Yeah, my parents have been together about 60 years; mom's collection must be into the thousands by now. I know it takes about a dozen large boxes to hold it all.
I haven't gotten 'round to decking my halls, yet; I've been super busy. I'm not going to bother with the tree because my youngest cat will just knock it down trying to climb it. *roll* I do have some ornaments that I hang from the walls, instead and the stockings go up on the windowsill in the living room. I've just got to find the time. I'll need a whole day to devote to decking the halls.
