Well of course, they're not revealed as Borg on the cover, that would Spoil the twist. The Comic is the Borg Tribble Origin story

I didn't want to spoiler, but yes. That's a sneak peak of the reimagined Abramsverse Borg Cube behind Chekov.

Yeah, but the whole thing involving a dimensional hopping K-9 and Alfa-117 Canine experimental hybrid was a little over the top and totally not in keeping with canon.

Let me ask you something. If his name is "Doctor Who," why doesn't anyone call him that? Is "Who" his first name, last name, or a nickname? What did he get his doctorate in, and from what university? I mean, if he's like Derek Smart and got his PhD from a diploma mill, then I don't think he has the right to go around calling himself "Doctor" just to get people to listen to him. "Oh, you should trust me. You see, I'm a doctor!" Is there a reason no one's ever gone after this guy for claiming fraudulent academic credentials? Plus, I've heard he's not even from Earth, which makes him an illegal immigrant.

And you think he holds a candle to the might of the Borg tribble.

    I say good day, sir.

I wonder how far you can blow up a tribble like a balloon before it pops. In other words, I wonder how much internal pressure the inner membranes of a tribble can withstand before they rupture.

Not that it matters for a Borg tribble, since they can use forcefields.

Perhaps John Harrison is a Colony Borg-Tribble. It's been suggested those bumps on his spine are tribbles... hiding under his skin!!

I dunno. If tribbles start popping out of his back, that's going to remind people of the chestbursters from Aliens. But maybe they instead attach to his spinal cord and supplement his own intelligence by forming their own little collective tribble mind. We don't know how smart tribbles are, individually. Maybe their entire interior is taken up by brain matter (well, however much of it isn't occupied by gonads.) They could be quite intelligent, and having a dozen of them attached to your spine, making you smarter, could result in a vastly superhuman intelligence.

I think we now know what makes Harrison so damn smart.

In TAS: More Tribbles, More Troubles, the infertile tribbles were shown forming collectives.

I think the OP missed the obvious: Tribbles are the Borg.

Tribbles probably formed the First Collective as a defense, during the Klingon invasion of the tribble homeworld. The Klingons thought they destroyed that gargantuan fluffy nightmare—which had achieved consciousness itself—but it really fell into what they used to call a black hole. That formed when all the Klingon torpedoes detonated together in one spot. And emerged on the other side of the galaxy. It began assimilating bipedal species soon after, because it needed feet since it needed boots, in order to pull itself up by its own bootstraps.

    And now, it's back.

Now I'm picturing Harrison's skin dissolving, leaving a skull with a spinal cord consisting of Borg Tribbles attached to it. And then Kirk goes over and and snaps whatever it is connecting the Borg Tribbles together to serve as a spinal cord.

I think that's been done. Wasn't that a TAS episode?
