All the Borg need to do with unwieldly life forms is assimilate a bunch on the life form's home planet, suck up all the knowledge and abilities and then abandon them.

What does the Horta have to offer? Ancient wisdom of the rocks.. I'm pretty sure the Borg would not be interested.

(Pinkie Pie's sister would befriend the Horta.)

The Borg would be interested in the Horta's corrosive acids that could potentially be used as a weapon.

All the Borg do is strip mine planets for resources and technology.

The Horta would be a superb addition.

The Borg are a community of equals, not vampire users.

    They don't cherry pick.

Also, the Borg are not aggressive.

Their weapon systems for their level of technology are purely defensive.

    They stun and then assimilate.

Of course they almost never fight someone evenly matched, so what they call defensive weapons, might not seem like that from the perspective of someone 4 hundreds years junior to Borg development.

It's very rare that the Borg actually have missions all about killing a target.

    Hell.

Drones don't every carry hand weapons.

When they get boots on the ground somewhere, they expect to be welcomed with open arms as liberators and saviours, and just because that has never happened, how is that their fault?

Eh, basic stuff. I'm sure they've come across all kinds of corrosive acids. Can't compare to 8472 climbing up the hull and existing in fluidic space.

I wonder if the Borg assimilated a bunch of Ferengi early on in Borg history and that's what got them so borg bent on acquiring, acquiring, acquiring. The Ferengi don't run around killing either, they want to use everything for profit, not destroy it.

Acquire and assimilate, profit and perfection.

It's not the acid the horta excrete that is valuable. It's that they swim through rock with the ability to intuate their surrounding to identify which minerals around them are worthwhile and which are shite.

But I brought up the Horta because I was wondering if their stoney biology would be nanoprobe resistant similar to how 8472's dense meat was resistant?

We saw Jeri as a Ferengi, so it's in the mix. :)

I know they did assimilate them, I'm just wishful thinking we can blame a lot of the Borg on this.

Besides, even thought I still think the queen's role in the Borg administration is a misdiagnosation, the Borg are the ultimate communists inside their own borders. Everyone is equal, sharing the rewards and the work.

Maybe the Borg running from Archer had a very Ferengi adventure on their way back to the Delta Quadrant?

Besides, the Ferengi bought Warp drive, which is a step above stealing it, and might fall them inside the Kazon loophole too.

In Little Green Men, the 20th century Earthlings were equal parts willing to buy warp drive off Quark as they were willing to pull out teeth until he surrendered it... And any relevant weapons technology along for the ride.

Would this make Humanity more or less attractive to the Q?

I don't believe a word of it. Strip away all of 24th century mankind's comforts and they are no different than anyone today.

Hence Q's trolling of Picard, he didn't believe it either.

So much of what these "people" said is the mortar of our subconsciousnesses foundations.

The Q were impressed with how man had come and how quickly they were going places.

We were all impressed with Lance Armstrong until it became clear that he was a cheat.

Allowing Time travelers to feed you information and technology is cheating and you can't be positively certain it's not a funky trojan horse.

    Cheaters never prosper.

I'm not quite as sure they were impressed. They might have been terrified.

I don't think the Q are terrified of much of anything (except themselves). Maybe a little surprised but mostly intrigued.

Very outside the box, Guy, but I think they are cardinally unsuited for this role and I'll tell you absolutely why. To be an effective diplomat, it is vital that one does not consistently piss off at least one of the sides that are being negotiated with.

Exactly how long would the Borg be able to tolerate, regardless of the clan, people who are ALWAYS ASKING THEM FOR WATER!!!!

The Borg ignore armed commandos stopping though their vessels.

George Lopez has a new show, where he is an evolved civilized (rich) Mexican who has to deal with his down to Earth family's shenanigans... Last week he gave his uncle a handy man job to install some lights, there was a joke about how he didn't need an entire tool box because he had one hammer, and then the uncle stole cable from George's neighbours which caused a brown out for the entire neighbourhood.

I could see the The Kazon coming in, parking, taking all the water they can carry, and leaving without the Borg giving a shit.
