Is Vulcan blown to bits or is it destroyed in a way in which the planet could have been sucked into an alternate universe timeline as Nero and Spock were?

Is it specified what year the main events take place/how old Kirk is? From what i read Spock prime was confused that Kirk was not Captain yet- does that mean the movie is in 2266?

Spock may be refined but Nimoy ain't. ;)

When he was on Colbert earlier this year he rambled about masturbating!

the Botany Bay was launched in 1996, and since Nero alters the timeline in the 23rd century, then presumably yes, its still drifting in space....

The general rule of thumb seems to be that which took place before Nero's intervention is the same, everything after is either altered or will no longer take place

    I'll show myself out....

Ok, I realize this is a little off topic, but Captain Data? Data was destroyed in Nemesis.

This won't ruin the movie for me, but how is it said at the end: "where no man..." or "where no one..."?

B-9? Seriously? They went there? Oh brother. Of course I guess it's not really part of this film exactly, so I guess it doesn't matter. But still it gets a  from me.

Well it seems like a reasonable guess. My other guess would be that they're like me, trying to forget Nemesis ever happened.

    Seriously

    If you actually care

    As depicted in Countdown

In 2387, Picard is Ambassador to Vulcan, Worf is a General in the Klingon Empire, and LaForge designs starships on his own...they figured out a way to download Data's katra into B-4's lifeless, retarded body, and he is now Cap'n of the Enterprise E, thus negating the various ethical questions of destroying one life-form to save another

Theres even a scene where Data and Spock discuss the similiarities of their both being killed and then miraculously resurrected once they recieved the salaries they were hoping for!

Okay the salary thing was my addition, but the rest of it is true...

And I think its why the TNG universe is better left behind..

(On a side note - it took this movie coming out for me to realize that, although I did enjoy TNG, the TOS era and its characters were far more interesting and exciting to me. When I saw Picard and all on the Countdown covers, I felt a little let down that they were depicting that universe again).

I would get excited about new episodes of TNG, if such a thing were possible. But another TNG-based movie? No way.

Ah, it won't ruin anything for me. I can read spoilers and still be excited by the movie. I usually treat the visual medium as separate from what I read, so either is exciting on its own.
