Ok, I have not read all the pages as of yet...but I am going to comment on the first post by V\'ger.

A lot of work went into that to be sure...being a Whovian since 1977, I noticed a few discrepancies...but they can be over looked for the amount of work that went into it. Whom ever this V\'ger is...they did a great job. :)

    I was a Whovian before I became a Trekkie. I know...Wha??? :wtf::rommie:
I am liking this site more and more. Wow!

I am just so happy there is a place for Whovians here as well. :techman:

Actually, Tegan didn't appear in TWO of the Fifth Doctor's stories: "Planet of Fire" and "The Caves of Androzani".

    Otherwise, this primer is great!

I think you'll find Tegan appears at the end of Androzani...

I just got into the show not too long ago. About a quarter of the way into season 3. This show if freakin' awesome! It does get a little jarring going from one actor to another in terms of the different doctors and even now with the companions, going from Rose to Martha. Otherwise, good times. Consider me now, a Who fan! Going to start Torchwood as well once I get caught up with Doctor Who.

Being a Brit, I grew up on Doctor Who and as Regneration is part of the show I don't find it jarring at all, same with the companions they come and go. Though I can understand why someone new to the show might find it a bit jarring.

Before you start watching Torchwood, you'll need to watch the 9th Docotr episodes.

The Eccelston era? Yeah I'm caught up with seasons 1, 2 and quarter way through 3.
So I know Torchwood all started back in that werewolf episode in addition to when they met Captain Jack Harkness during the Blitz.

One question though. Is it imperative I watch the seasonal specials too?

Yes to a certain degree when it comes to the Xmas specials "Runaway Bride" introduces us to the S4 Companion and "Voyage of the damned" introduces us to a character who mplays a roll during S4 and the 2010 specials.

    ObiWan, just to warn you.

The first season of TW is a bit on the ordinary side. Very monster of the week and trying to be sexy.

The second season was an improvement, and has a startling finale, but still just okay.

TW s3, Children of Earth... is utterly amazing. Only five eps, but after each you sit there feeling as iff you been blasted by some really intense radiation, or the strongest storm you've ever faced. it's worth watching 1 & 2 to get to 3.

Oh I'm already there. I think I'm on S3E6-The Lazarus Experiment to be exact. I guess that's more than a quarter of the way through.

Oh wait I just realized you're talking about Torchwood and not DW. But yeah cool, thanks for the heads up!

I think a theme that draws many viewers is the Doctor's passion...passion for life and preserving life, for doing what's right, fighting against those who seek power at the expense of others' rights. It's a character trait that resonates across cultures and backgrounds...especially in younger people, whose concepts of right and wrong may not have as many shades of grey as someone older. Although the show does introduce those grey areas from time to time, which makes it more compelling. And though we see those occasional flashes of arrogance in the Doctor, we know his heart is in the right place.
