    What are they?

    -Red eye Dukat?

Janeway murdered Tuvix (yes she did/no she didn't)?

    -TATV?

    -Warp 10 salamanders?

The Borg appearing on Enterprise. I remember the day the first rumours of that were released the Enterprise forum here literally exploded in rage.

The Borg in ENT had a canon reason. And it provided some nice continuity with TNG (well, retcon technically).

My biggest one was TATV and how they killed Tucker.

Dax dying in such a useless way was another.

The salamander thing wasn't controversial to me. It was just stupid.

I'd say ENT being Star Trek/canon is a pretty big one. Especially since it wasn't even called Star Trek for it's first two Seasons, and then had the Star Trek brand haphazardly ramrodded into it in order to try to salvage some ratings.

Janeway... in the books. You know what I'm talking about.

    The reboot, of course.

The Kirk/Uhura kiss. I mean, that had to be in controversial as hell in the 60s.

I agree with Janeway killing Tuvix. That episode still pisses me off. I think that was the exact moment Janeway became so despised.

    - That Kirk and Uhura kiss shouldn't be a problem if it had been done naturally. The fact that they had to kiss because they were forced is what bugs me about it. I know, it's partially because of social norms at the time, but I find the fact that two people of different races had to be forced under mind control in order to kiss more offensive than the simple reality of an interracial kiss.

    - I'm sure all the deaths are controversial, except Spock's. Star Trek has a really bad record when it comes to executing major character deaths in a dramatically effective manner. Tasha, Kirk, Data, David Marcus/Kirk, Dax, and the guy who died on the last episode of Enterprise (forgot his name) all had lame, cheap deaths.

    - The adjustment of the Borg Collective structure for "Star Trek: First Contact" with the addition of the Borg Queen seems to be a huge controversy here, although I don't think it should be. I thought it was a necessary alteration in order to make them effective big screen villains and the Borg Queen added a lot of juice to the movie.

    Charles "Trip" Tucker III. :p

The Kirk/Uhura kiss was the first interracial kiss on television. :)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't First Contact the first time they started referring to the Borg as having a "hive mind" and gave them bee-like characteristics with the Borg Queen and the drones?

One of the biggest controversies was TNG itself. "How dare they have an Enterprise without Shatner!!!"

That's one of the reasons I find the current "How dare they" attitude so humorous.

How dare they have ANYTHING after TOS. Hell, how dare they even make TOS after The Cage!

    Apart from ST11?

Whether Ezri Dax was a worthwhile character has been talked about to death.

I don't think "Threshold" is much of a controversy, per se, because almost everyone can agree that it's horrible.

Pillar making a TNG film(Insurrection) and not taking advance of the Dominion in DS9 to big them to the big screen, or using the Romulans instead we have the sona. The movie kept the ideas of star trek but who ever did the sfx especially with warp core blowing up should have been fired or forced to redo the shot free.

When I first saw publicity shots of TNG - I was totally confused about a Klingon on a Starfleet ship. I bet that annoyed more than just me.
