I've seen more legit looking articles from the Onion.

Really... we should set it where people can't start threads unless they have 100 posts and have been around at least a month. The influx of spam threads by new accounts lately is kinda getting bad.

    I agree.

Besides, if Abrams had quit the Sci-fi/Fantasy folks would've been all over this. :techman:

What a stupid, unimaginative, familiar joke.

I don't see why people are sore at this. It was kinda funny. I mean you know we get on this board to talk about a TV show right? People know how we love this stuff, of course some of those people are gonna troll, or do something like this. I give this one a little credit.

I liken it to what on see on here all the time, someone posts something...maybe an idea they had on the new movie, and it never fails that there are always at least two to three (and sometimes more) responses that are, "Whatever we already discussed this" or "Are we really discussing this again" or "Lame" or something along these lines. It often seems like there are members on here that get off on just doing that, in short telling others their posts have no substance and not realizing that with their responses they are doing the same thing...

    ...kinda like this response.

Who's sore? Lame jokes just bore my ass to tears...and the "lookit me, I'm clever" factor is pathetic.

    I wholeheartedly support this idea.

My daddy used to say, "It's so sad when sperm is wasted like that." That's how I feel about johnfilms crap.

Maybe J.J. has creative ethics and enjoys making the best movie he can possibly......

I almost got it all out.

This news about Abrams exiting Star Wars VII, came out on the net on April the First. Only one online news website reported it, everybody else didn't.

Anyway, it's only a April Fool prank.

I don't know. They can't put anything on the Internet that isn't true. (Bonjour!)

I'd say that carpet-bombing all of the better-known Trek/SciFi/geek/nerd sites with it on April 11 may not have been the ideal method for playing that sort of prank.

I think that would go too far. A one week delay in starting threads would be more than enough (with 48hrs probably being enough). 99.9% of these jokers would be stopped by any lack of immediate gratification.

So 100 days and a month's membership is too steep in my opinion and would deter a lot of well-intentioned people from joining.

I tend to agree. The leaving "narrative film" line made me chuckle (though I refrained from clicking the link to read more).

I think some folks complain because that's their schtick - they enjoy stomping their foot and pointing their finger in condemnation because if the joke ain't theirs then it ain't funny - no exceptions. It's insecurity on their part and it shows.

    All in my super-duper-humble opinion.

I tend to not click on links like t.co that lead to an unknown destination. Now I am actually disappointed it didn't lead to a popular shock site. It is a waste of 300 words.
