Are we really calling Star Trek Into Darkness STiD as an abbreviation??

It looks too much like STD for me to be comfortable with it...:brickwall:

You're welcome to call it whatever you want. As long as you go see it. :)

I'm calling it "the movie" or "the next movie" as often as not, but STID does have the advantage of being an accurate initialism of the movie's title.

Believe it or not, that similarity has been pointed out a time or two (or forty-two) already.

Would you describe the discomfort as an itch... or more of a burning sensation?

    No one's calling it "STiD."

People are abbreviating it "STiD" on message boards.

When I actually call it something out loud, it's either "Into Darkness" or "the next Star Trek movie."

I'm calling it DARKNESS. In all caps. That's what I call it. DARKNESS is the sequel to TREK. It works. It works for everything.

Star Wars: MENACE, CLONES, SITH, HOPE, EMPIRE, JEDI.

Star Trek: PICTURE, WRATH, SEARCH, VOYAGE, FRONTIER, COUNTRY, GENERATIONS, CONTACT, BOOBS, NEMESIS, TREK, DARKNESS.

I'm from a generation where STD was an accepted abbreviation for "standard". And candy bars were five cents. And full-service gasoline was 25.9 cents a gallon.

Just wear a rain jacket when you go to see it, and you'll be protected.

Oh...Waitaminnit, that sentence could be misinterpretted. Just to be clear, I didn't mean wear just a rain jacket. Wearing just a rain jacket to a movie theater could get you into trouble with the Police.

Thanks. I'm now reminded of a classic commercial I'd much rather never have remembered. :scream:
