If you wrote the next one, which original episode would you revisit?

For me, this is easy, a $170 Million version of Mirror, Mirror

Really would love to see Mirror Mirror Spock again.....

Nah. "The Doomsday Machine" if anything.

Let's mash that up with the Klingons.

Hell, let's do a better version of ST:TMP - A Klingon patrol gets blown to smithereens by the Doomsday Machine, and we learn that "it's on a direct heading for Earth."

    Errand of Mercy

Strong core story, which can easily be expanded.

Okay, but get rid of the Organians. And put the Planet Killer in somewhere.

You still have to have the Organians. But this time you make them twisted fucks who get off on watching the Federation and Klingons slaughter each other. You can have big space battles and big ground battles and actions sequences.

Then you have Kirk and the Klingons get together at the end to defeat them.

    You are completely right.

I just figured that Errand of Mercy gives you the big stage with a full-out war. Plus the entity from Day of the Dove didn't have a human form to use. :techman:

My favorite episode of TOS, A Taste of Armageddon. But to please Admiral Buzzkill, we'll say that the planet killer was the reason for them fighting with computers now, after seeing what the Doomsday Machine did.

A Taste of Armageddon is also my favorite episode, but I'm not sure it would have enough 'bang' to interest casual viewers. :(

So why not cut out the middleman and call them Excalbians?

RETURN TO TOMORROW remains my choice. Easy to expand in terms of menace and scale (pushing pg-13 with the horror aspect), while still retaining the whole questing aspect (and able to show the down side of that as well.)

Plus it gives at least a couple of cast members room to flex.

    "Requiem for Methuselah"

While using aspects of "The Trouble with Tribbles" (specifically Klingons in disguise) and "I Mudd" (specifically Norman and his ilk) to change-up the story.

Make it so that who ever they get to play 'Mr. Flint,' has come across Norman in his search for a perfect companion and some how manages to further piss off the Klingons at the same time.
Also, bring in a whole bunch of the Klingon home world dying (since we see a glimpse that Praxis is already destroyed in STiD) and how desperate they are to hang onto their Empire.

    So many possibilities...

They'd have to throw a whole bunch of them being forced to get Health Insurance in order to make it relevant.

Not an episode, but it might be fun to dust off the novel Spock, Messiah! and turn it into a big-budget blockbuster. Spock goes crazy and the Enterprise is threatened by a Warp 10 radiation storm.

    What's not to love?
