Starting a new thread because it's not just speculation anymore. It's fact. And it's awesome! http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/...age-of-Peter-Capaldis-Doctor-Who-costume.html I like. It screams class and refinement. There are clear callbacks IMO to the Pertwee outfit. And it's hopefully warm enough for the cold Cardiffian shoots. Thoughts? Reactions? Screams of "THIS ISN'T MY DOCTOR?!"..? Mark
Mark isn't talking to himself, I thought I was being an asshole pointing it out and deleted my original comment.
Time for a thread merge.. LOL I need to see more pic and angles of him in the costume before i formulate an opinion, so far not bad.
Not much positive or negative in my view. It's alright. Not fantastic, not terrible. Of course, you really don't know much until you see him in action! I do like the blue color. In fact, I had a dream that he wore a blue coat and that stuck in my mind so that's not a surprise. "My" coat was cut more stylishly than what he's actually wearing though. Mr Awe
The red colored inside reminds me a little of Pertwee's outfit(s). This is simpler than Pertwee's of course, no frilly cuffs, etc. And of course there might be variations and secondary outfits, maybe a long overcoat.
It's a little understated, though I guess the coat isn't bad. The picture's too small for me to get a good sense of the details.
I remember seeing Smith's version and having it take a little while to sink in with me. This one is just great off the bat. Even the eclectic choice of wearing a button-up shirt WITHOUT a tie is great. Eleven was a young man wearing an old man's clothes. Twelve is an older man wearing a stylish suit that befits him. Here you go![/QUOTE] Yeah, thanks for reminding me I live in a country without this chain. I miss those burgers. :P Mark
^ Opposite reaction for me. Liked Smith's off the bat, and this is more meh, at least right now. Hard to really know until you see them in action. Mr Awe
AWESOME!!!! Do you want to know the best thing? I guessed that Capaldi would have top button swag, and I was bang on!!!!! But yeah, I quite like the outfit. It suits him plus I don't think it reminds me in particular of any other doctor. Maybe a tiny bit of Pertwee but that's only because of the pose.
The Pertwee comparisons continue It sort of reminds me of Austin Powers suit. Very 60's inspired. He kept the Doc Martens from Smith
Capaldi is 2/2 for Pertwee posealikes. Not surprised given the peak of his Doctor Who nerdity seems to have been during the third Doctor's era. Plus Pertwee made being an older Doctor stylish, so I've no doubt he's going to echo that sentiment while putting his own modern spin on it. Mark
