    My Friends.

Firstly, I'm proud of what this forum has achieved this last two months, but as of today - I'm going to drop the sombrero and mexican references from my avatar.

I've been wanting to do this for a couple of weeks now. I feel the tide has turned, so I'm getting out now while we are still on somewhat of a high. There are rumblings of a backlash across the board and as such, I feel that we should all cut back on the sombrero-ness. Still gonna post in the Blue nacelles thread (god bless you AlboOfBorg - who knew?,) and I think we should keep that puppy going at least through 2000 posts.

Peace, love, IDIC and understanding and all that - but I think its time to return to our scheduled broadcast.

    *welling up with tears*

Lets get out now, before the rest of the board kills us and it really, really stops becoming funny. I'm going to fall on my sword now for the rest of you. I'm ripping off the band-aid now. I'm taking the first step.

    Who's with me?

    :D

    I de-sombreoed two weeks ago. :D

Don't get me wrong, I'm still lovin' the whole sombrerofication scenario - but I made an avie that really doesn't need sombreoing up, so that was that.

Yeah, it's best to end something before it dies a slow death.

    Mine stays for now.

I don't much concern myself with what other people think.

If people don't like it, they can deal. I don't take issue with anyone else's avatar.

    Are you freakin' nuts?

We're Star Trek fans. Not ending things prior to a slow death is what we're all about.

I mean, think about it: Beating a dead horse is what we do best. :)

Okay, so maybe sombreros are beginning to suck.

    So what?

Voyager sucked and it lasted for 7 whole years! Christ, even though the franchise was technically brain dead and on full life support, they gave us Enterprise and somehow managed to keep it going for 4 additional seasons.

By all rights sombreros deserve to stick around for a couple of years. At the very least, until Trek XI hits theatres. Anything less, and you don't deserve to call yourself a true fan.

I still like the craze but it does bug me when an interesting topic is turned into a mash of Jokes concerning It.

I hereby promise to limit all my mention of Them, their Legacy or Sombrero Jokes to appropriate threads only but the Sombrero stays.

I feel the same way about my decision to not have a sombreroed avie anymore :D

The way I see it - sombrero or not-sombrero - it's all cool.

    I love it. :techman:

I de-sombreroed a few days ago. I have the attention span of a 3 month old baby.

Though I still enjoy the references and the art in "The Thread".
