It doesn't work out if Robin's taller, IMO.

Cage already did his take on Batman! But, I can see Andy Samberg doing his thing on SNL now--"I have to be in that movie, Seth."

Had to dredge this up from 2004…

As for my choices… Wentworth Miller as Batman and Jason Statham as Alfred. Anyone who watches Beware the Batman knows what I'm talking about. ;)

^I don't see it. Wentworth looks too young to be a convincing Batman.

I was thinking about Statham as Batman the other day. He could do the action stuff, but I don't know if he'd be convincing as Wayne.

That's because that photo is probably 15 years old. He's 41 now. (But I'm not sure he'd be a great choice, either.)

I was about to joke he should have a "the third" after his name, but a google search showes he does.

IIRC, Miller auditioned for Superman when Brett Ratner was involved and that led to him playing the lead in Prison Break, which Ratner exec-produced. But I don't really see him as Batman. Maybe Dominic Purcell, his PB, co-star, when younger.

Whoever plays Batman in this film needs to look like he could hold his own with Henry Cavill. Yes, obviously Batman can never match Supes for physical strength but if you have a small, scrawny Batman standing beside Cavill's imposing hunk, the disparity is going to be so glaring.

I wasn't familiar with him, but yeah he could really work as Batman.

That one pic makes him look like Joey Tribbiani.

So I just finished watching Dredd with my wife and now I'm thinking Karl Urban would make a pretty damn good Batman.

I think Karl Urban could do it - he could do a decent Bruce Wayne also - can do that more upbeat "playboy" Bruce, but also a more series - modern comics era Bruce too. One that is still physically imposing enough to not be taken lightly, but not so much so that people wonder why he's so in shape.

Plus he's got a good growly voice that you can actually understand.

The problem of course is that he has to build an American accent again from first principles, we have no idea what his Bruce Wayne is going to sound like.

^^ Well, one could get around that with just saying he's been travelling the world for about fifteen years during his youth training to become Batman. That, of course, would open the whole origin can of worms again.

Urban works for me. He was also good as a smart, focused, dangerous, special agent in RED. (Check out his big fight scene with Bruce Willis.)

    And his American accent, too.
