Starfleet develops slipstream less than a century after TOS and takes a can of whup-ass to the Andromeda Galaxy.

I always thought that the premise of other Kelvin expeditions being encounter by Starfleet would make a good story.

For that matter, whatever happened to Rojan and his friends?

Just enough to keep a small population humans in a zoo! Their obligations would be to entertain their masters and to taste good with the newly discovered best thing ever, ketchup!

    Marsden is very sad.
But what if the Klevans land in the "delta" quadrant and have a big ton of Borg to deal with, or the "gamma" quadrant and have the Dominion. They may not like it here.

Maybe Rojan's decendents are the key to turning back the invasion, as they know the Andromedans but aren't Andromedans and therefore enemies of them.

Actually, Rojan's attitude toward Capt. Kirk didn't seem completely merciless. I could see if the Andromedans showed up and said "You're conquered, behave." and the Federation said yes, that it would be business as normal almost. Somewhat like when the Romans conquered an area and the population was not in revolt.

The thing about Kelvans in the Milky Way is, Rojan and his friends apparently had adopted the horribly uncomfortable human form some time before Kirk showed up - Rojan complained how they had to suffer in these bodies on the planet already:

Sure, the bodies are necessary for surviving inside the human starship - but they seem to have been adopted before the ship arrived, and are the reason the Kelvans suffered on the planet. And getting into and out of the bodies appears to be a complicated process that cannot quickly or easily, if at all, be reversed, giving even more credence to the idea that the new bodies were adopted long before Kirk showed up.

Basically, then, we're being told that the Kelvans can't conquer the Milky Way without ceasing to be pure Kelvans, which will probably mean they will tear their society apart in the process. Real Kelvans will want to, will have to life in the empty space between the planets. But apparently the planets will still have to be exploited (or the Kelvans would simply have moved into empty space rather than into Milky Way), and that calls for impure Kelvans and the associated suffering...

Rojan reporting back on this unfavorable conditions might actually discourage the Kelvans from coming here!

Although how Milky Way would differ from Andromeda in this respect is unknown. The only known difference between these two galaxies (before Andromeda began exploding, that is) is that Andromeda doesn't have an energy barrier, since this surprised the Kelvans.

Six months after the Kelvins were left there, one of the nearby planets exploded, shifting the orbit of the Kelvins planet and everything was laid waste.

And when the Kelvins start making their way across the galaxy, taking control, what happens when they come across the Talosians?

Me thinks that Starfleet is not the last bastion of hope where stopping them is concerned.

Hmmmm... could someone here photoshop a picture of Barbara Bouchet in one of Jeri Ryan's catsuits?

I could just hear the female shapeshifter (played by Salome Jens): "I'm afraid you have it backwards, Rojan. More proof that you need our order just like all the other solids do. Now submit to Dominion rule or the Jem'Hadar will make your stay in this galaxy a very short and unpleasant one."

I'd like to see the true form of the Kelvin. I can see them being related to the Elder Things which created shoggoths...

Some of the devices used by visiting species look to shame even what you see in Warehouse 13.

The Kelvin could reduce living matter into little "cubes". Scan those with Wraith storage beams (long term transporter storage) and you could move huge numbers of beings with no need of life support.

Flint's devices, the device used in Spock's brain to cause a whole starship's crew to be knocked out non line of sight--nicer than the suffocation by the Zalkonian ship in transfigurations.

I think the Kelvan might be the same race that tried to invade planet Earth in the 1960's series The Invaders. Those aliens were said to be from "another galaxy" and they also were hideous, many-tentacled creatures who took human form. A few of the aliens in The Invaders also even became "corrupted" by their human form, developing human emotions and values, and turned to aid Vincent against their masters.
