Well the darker colors definitely fit the more somber story of SR (the brighter colors of Reeve's suit would have been completely out of place).

That said, I do look forward to seeing a more vibrant and colorful version on the big screen again.

The darker suit was also caused by the Orange & Teal color timing. And that seems to be standard lately.

I hope they're going to jettison a lot of the old costume detail and go for something less dated. The cape and shield matter. Beyond that...well, DC Comics is dumping the old suit and filmmakers tend to take even more liberties with these things. Look at every version of Batman for the last twenty years.

Well, Tim Burton wanted a black suit...

Appropriately so, since he was doing the whole "death of Superman" thing and was borrowing from the comic continuity itself. He also had a red/blue cape version designed and tested, which was not terribly good.

I give it roughly five minutes. He'll be back in his traditional suit in no time flat.

They should do a Supergirl movie. A bodypainting "suit".

Like that Megan Fox picture? Hmm, I'm not sure if it's appropriate to post here.

So Russell Crowe as Jor-El now? Not exactly the loving father figure I would have imagined for Supes. lol

Eh, in fairness, the "new" suit is nearly the same as the old suit. The only major difference lack of the red shorts. Everything else is just subtle change.

In the upcoming film, I'm sure they'll do their version of it, but there is no need to completely reinvent the wheel.

Exactly. The suit won't look silly to anyone if the actor they cast wears it with as much confidence and conviction as Christopher Reeve did.

Yeah, I agree. Always drove me nuts the way Dean Caine would fold his arms over his chest as if he were ashamed to have a big red \S/ on it.

The Russell Crowe news is surprising but I like it. The casting of this film is brilliant.

That's arrant nonsense. Reeve had two basic poses as well - arms akimbo and arms folded across his chest. "Postures of defiance" he called them.
